Pretty much everyone has heard of network marketing. They have either joined themselves or had a friend or family member who joined. But even so most people are clueless in regards to what it is really all about; so “What is Network Marketing About” really?
What is it?
How does it work?
Will it work for me? Can I really make money with it?
All great questions and my goal with this article is to answer those questions for you.
What I want to stress from the outset is that I am qualified to answer these questions for you. I say this because most of the websites you come across on the internet on this topic are going to written by people who have no real if any experience in network marketing.
You see when you do a search in google on a topic, in many cases you are going to come across websites that are written by people who have no experience in the subject they are writing on.
They pick the topic because they are marketers and they have discovered that people are searching for information on that topic and have they figured out a way to sell you something.
So they provide information on the topic but with a hidden agenda, so many times the information in their post is way off base and purposely misleading. So be careful.
They key to success is finding someone who has accomplished what you want to accomplish and doing what they did.
It is not found in listening to people who failed or who have no experience in the arena.
So back to me and what network marketing is really about…
I got involved in network marketing back in 2005 and had tremendous success right out of the gates. I was able to create a 6 figure income very quickly and received all of the other benefits such as exotic vacations, car bonuses, etc.
So yes I know the industry very well. I know exactly what it is about and I know how you can have success in it should you decide it is for you.
So What is Network Marketing?
It is a business model that has been around for many many years.
It has been proven time and time again to be an excellent opportunity for average everyday people to not only start their own businesses but to achieve a lifestyle that surpasses anything they dreamed was possible.
The basics of this business model is that a company has chosen network marketing as its business structure; instead of the traditional model you see most businesses take.
You see most companies follow the traditional business and distribution model.
Meaning they manufacture a product and then ship it off to big box stores like Walmart or Costco. They have to deal with all of the logistics of shipping and distributing their product to all of the stores around the world.
They then have to pay the stores to display their product on the shelves. They have to fight for shelf space as well.
And on top of that they have to figure out how to let you the customer know their product even exists.
Which typically involves spending enormous sums of money to advertise their product, either on TV, the Internet, radio, etc.
All of these require a ton of employees, equipment, money and logistics to make things happen.
And the problem for most companies is even when they make it happen most of them still go out of business. There is an insane amount of “stuff” involved with making a business successful with the traditional business model.
Whereas with network marketing what has happened is a company has decided not to go with the traditional business model.
Instead what they do is simply manufacture the product and then bring on distributors. I.e. people like me and you.
- We become everything to the company.
- We use the product so we are customers.
- We tell others about the product so we are the advertising for the company.
- We sign up new customers so we are the sales and marketing team for the company.
By going this route a company has basically cut out the middle man (big box stores) and with all of the money they have saved doing so they pay it to us the distributors instead.
As a network marketing distributor you are the middle man, customer, advertiser and marketing arm of the company and you get paid a very significant amount of money for being successful at these things for the company.
So How Does It Work?
The best way to explain to someone looking at how the network marketing business model actually works is to give an example.
Let’s say you have a friend named Gertrude…
Gertrude’s great auntie Beatrice sends her a Facebook message and says she has an opportunity she would like Gertrude to take a look at.
Being a loving great-niece Gertrude agrees to take a look.
Beatrice sends her a video overview of the business opportunity.
This overview explains all aspects of the opportunity to Gertrude so that her great auntie does not have to. It does all of the selling and telling for her.
So notice that all Beatrice had to do was see if Gertrude was open to taking a look and then let the presentation do the rest.
The video explains what the product is and how it works. In this case let’s say it is a weight loss product.
The video also explains that Gertrude can become a distributor of this weight loss product and go into business for herself.
It explains how she is paid for not only selling the weight loss product but also for sponsoring other people into the business as distributors, just like auntie Beatrice is doing with her.
She learns that she gets handsomely compensated for building a team of her very own. An organization of her own.
An organization that will be filled with customers and with people who also become distributors and build their own business and as a result also build her business since they are in her organization.
It also goes onto explain that every time one of her new distributors gets a new customer or sponsors a new distributor Gertrude also makes a commission.
In fact it shows her how she will make a commission of any sale that happens within her team or organization even if she does not personally know the people making the sale.
She realizes that as the people she sponsors start to sponsor people and those people start to sponsor people and so on down the line that her organization is going to start growing without her help.
It dawns on her that in a short amount of time it is possible that she is not going to know most of the people in her organization but is blown away and gets very excited that she is going to be paid off of their efforts and the sales they make.
Well needless to say Gertrude is excited behind the power of this business model, absolutely loves the idea of being in business for herself, can’t wait to start earning a serious income working part-time, she joins and we all live happily after, the end!
So that’s how it works…
But Will It Work For Me?
So this is the million dollar question. Is the network marketing industry for you?
Here is what I can tell you for a fact…
This industry has created success stories from every walk of life known to man. People from all over the world have seen success. People from all races have seen success. People from all backgrounds have seen success. Educated and uneducated people have seen success. People in big cities and little towns have been successful
So there is no question you can have success in this business if you truly want it.
And that is the kicker. If you truly want it!
Nothing is free in life and success in this business is no different. It takes hard work, dedication and commitment.
Like anything worthwhile in life you will have setbacks, ups and downs and frustrations. But if you preserve you will be successful.
It might not happen overnight but if you are committed it will happen and when it does it will be so worth it for you.
So yes it will work for you if you work it!

How You Build a Successful Business
Here is the thing with network marketing.
In order for you to achieve success you need to be able to build a large organization under you.
And you cannot do this alone. You need the people in your team to also have success which is achieved by them also being able to sponsor new distributors and get new customers.
In fact the person with the least amount of skill sets on your team must be able to see success.
This is accomplished by ensuring that the business building activities you and your team perform daily are able to duplicate.
Which means the actual activities must not only be effective and work but they must be simple. They cannot be complicated or complex of people won’t be able to do them.
They must be simple!
Are you getting this?
This is great news!
Because how we build this business is simple. What we do daily to grow our business is simple. It has to be. And if done right it is.
So let’s look at what we do daily…
The Secret to Success
OK the secret to success in this business is….
Developing the skill set of meeting new people and making friends with them and then simply asking them if they are open to taking a look at an opportunity.
That my friends is it.
Notice I did not say you need to become a sales person and go do high pressure sales tactics on friends and family or complete strangers?
No all we do is make friends. And then simply ask our friends if they are open to looking at an opportunity.
Some will not be open and that is A-OK, we just make new friends.
But some will be open to taking a look. And when they are all we do is what Gertrude’s great auntie Beatrice did with her, remember?
She simply sent Gertrude a business presentation to look at. She did not dive into a sales pitch. She let the video do the selling for her.
This is called using 3rd party tools and it is the secret to success. You let the tools do everything.
If someone has watched the presentation and has questions you send them to a new tool to get the answer, you do not provide the answer yourself.
Here is why…
Everything you are doing with your prospect they are thinking to themselves that they will have to do.
By sending them to a 3rd party tool such as a website, video presentation, webinar, Facebook group, you are showing them how simple the business model is.
All you did was ask them if they are open to taking a look at an opportunity and then you provided them with information to look at and continued to provide them with more information until they could decide if the business was for them or not.
But Where Do I Find People?
OK so by now you have to agree that the business mode is a simple model. But the question everyone asks is where do I find people share my business with?
How do I make new friends?
I will admit back when I got started in network marketing it was tricky.
The internet and social media was not what it is today. Your only real option was to get out in your community and get involved and meet people.
Now this is still a viable strategy today as people you meet in person are very good prospects. However social media sites like Facebook and LinkedIn are a game changer for network marketers.
Once you learn the right strategies it is a simple thing to be able to meet 5 – 10 new people every single day in 30 – 60 minutes time.
If you do this every day, and then ask at least 3 people from your friends list every day if they are open to looking at an opportunity you are going to see great success.
