In today’s post, I am going to answer the question of “What is Internet Network Marketing”? We are going to look at exactly what it is and how you can use it to create a very successful business.
As always I am going to be a straight shooter and cut right to the chase on this topic; all it really is, is using the internet to build your network marketing business.
It is not some unique business model all of its own, it is not some magic potion that will instantly make all of your dreams come true.
Now do not get me wrong, it is a game changer for networkers but in the end it is simply using online methods to find people, build relationships with them, and prospect and recruit them into your business, as well as implementing strategies to train your team and build culture with them.
Basically it is networking on steroids!
Understand What It Takes to Be a Success
To really understand the power of using the internet to build your business it is important to understand what it takes to become successful in this business in the first place.
Many people love to complicate what we do.
When you boil it down becoming a success in your business comes down to the following 7 things:
- Meeting people
- Building a relationship with them (rapport)
- Asking if they are open to looking at an opportunity
- If they are, provide them with a 3rd party tool that shares the details of the opportunity
- Collect their decision (is it for them or not)
- If it is sign them up and get them doing the same thing
- Rinse & repeat
So out of all 7 of these the most important aspect and what most people find the trickiest is how to meet new people on a regular basis.
This is where the internet comes into play and makes our job so much easier and your chances of success so much better…
Back in the Old Days
See back in the not so distant past building a downline was a bit trickier. Once you had worked your way through your warm market your options for meeting new people was not that great.
It really came down to either buying and calling cold leads which really sucks or you had to get out in your community and find ways of meeting people.
Back then, the goal was to try to meet 2 new people a day. Then once you had met them, the real challenge was how in the heck do you build a relationship or some rapport with them?
It was not easy to say the least.
Now a days because of the Internet and Social Media, meeting people is a breeze and so is building a relationship with them.
It truly has become a game changer for people. Countless people have now gone on to see tremendous success where before they struggled to even recruit 1 – 2 people.
2 Ways to do Internet Network Marketing
There is an active and a passive way to build your downline online.
The active method is using social media sites such as Facebook to actively get out and meet people and develop a relationship with them.
After you and your team have gone to your respective warm markets this is the next strategy I recommend you focus on.
The passive method on the other hand is not for everyone and should only be done with no more than 30% of the time you have allotted towards building your business.
It is more technical and takes more time and in some cases money to get traction with, which causes some people to be discouraged and quit.
However, once you do get this method working for you it can be a real game changer for your business, as you will have prospects actually coming to you curious about learning about your opportunity and/or product.
The passive method uses online marketing techniques such as blogging, email marketing, making videos, etc.
So let’s quickly take a look at both of these methods and if you want additional information I will provide links to other blog posts that go into how to do each method in more detail.
Active Prospecting Method
This is a very powerful prospecting method that I would highly recommend you and your whole team engage in immediately after launching your business with your warm market.
The premise behind this method is quite simple. You use social media to develop know, like and trust with your prospects.
Doesn’t that sound a lot different then what most people are doing on social media?
The majority of people get on these type of platforms and start harassing people by messaging complete strangers and asking them if they want to join their business.
And by posting their opportunity and product links all over the place in groups, on pages and on their own walls and their friends walls.
I.e. spamming people. People get on social media and instantly become a walking talking billboard, a spam machine, a spammy tammy!
Resist the urge to do that.
There are a few steps to take to use this strategy correctly and I am going to provide you with trainings on how to do so but the very basics of it are to look at sites like Facebook and LinkedIn as a party, a social gathering.
Pretend you have been invited to a friend’s get together…
Would you walk into this party and immediately start harassing people to join your business?
“Oh hey John, nice to meet you, would you like to join my business?”
Of course, you would not, and if you did, you would probably be asked to leave and definitely not be invited back again.
What you would do is be a normal human being:
- You would socialize.
- You would be friendly.
- You would discuss things of interest with people.
- You would carry on conversations.
- You would get to know people!
You want to do the same thing on social media.
And If you simply did that you would do well. You would without a doubt recruit people into your business, because in the end success comes down to the 7 keys to success I revealed earlier and social media gives you access to thousands upon thousands of people to meet and take through that process.

Passive Prospecting Method
So where the active method has you actively going out and meeting people, this method passively attracts them to you and is in fact often referred to as Attraction Marketing.
You attract your ideal prospect to you by becoming an expert to them.
Everyone wants to work with the expert.
You accomplish this by first picking your target market. Who are you looking to recruit?
In many cases with this method your ideal target market is fellow networkers. People who are looking for a new opportunity or looking to get back into the industry.
You set yourself up as an expert with them by providing them with valuable information that is designed to help them solve their problems.
Clearly for networkers this would be how to build a downline, get leads, recruit and sponsor more, how to build a team, etc.
You then use internet marketing strategies such as blogging or video marketing and create value based content (blog posts and videos).
The more content you put out the more people are going to come to see you as the expert you are becoming.
Eventually as they come to know, like and trust you, they will start to reach out to you looking to see how they can work directly with you.
Once you learn this strategy and get it up and running it is a very powerful strategy.
