Developing the mindset of a Network Marketing Pro is exactly what it will take for you to have success in your business.
There is no question that there is a very high failure rate in this industry and it is not because it is a hard business, in fact the opposite is true, it is a very simple business model.
However the reason for the high failure rate is people join an opportunity not because they were looking for one but because someone asked them to look at one. They were most likely sold on the idea of joining because they were promised all kinds of riches with little to no work.
Most people who get involved with a company do so to “try it, to “see” if it will work. They are not serious about building the business and they treat it at most like a hobby.
- They work an hour here and there.
- They get on the odd training call.
- They attend an event every once and a while.
- They talk to a couple of prospects every few weeks.
And as a result they fail miserably. It was not that network marketing did not work, it was that they did not work it.
To have success in this industry you must become a professional and treat it seriously.
Success does not come to people who have a hobby. Just like any other business model out there it must be treated seriously and worked at diligently on a daily basis.
You would not purchase a franchise and only show up to your store every once in a while. No you would be there daily and for very long hours.
Network marketing is no different, it requires daily work. Although unlike other opportunities you can become a pro working 2 – 3 hours a day at it.
In this post I am going to share with you 5 Tips to help you become a pro.
Professional Tip #1 – Get Your Head Right
Like I have explained already most people simply do not give their business the respect or time it needs to flourish.
You have to get your head right and understand what you have in front of you.
This is not a hobby, if you treat it like one it is going to pay you like one. This is not just something we try to see if it will work.
This is a very powerful and viable business. One that can completely alter the course of your life and help you realize all of your dreams, goals and aspirations.
But you have to treat it like it can do these things for you. Nothing in life worthwhile comes for free. Nothing is just handed to us. There is no get rich quick, it does not exist.
Understand that you must go to work and learn new skills. There are skill sets required for you to achieve success in this industry. And you must give yourself the time and opportunity to learn them.
Understand success is going to take work. You are going to have to spend at least 2 hours a day 5 days a week working on your business. The more time you put into it the faster you will see success.
Understand that you are going to have setbacks and frustrations. Everyone does, It is part of the process of achieving anything worthwhile.
Get your head right. Treat this like the powerful opportunity that it is and you will be well on your way to becoming the next success story.
Professional Tip #2 – Personal Development
Part of becoming a professional requires that you work on yourself.
Just like the late and great Mr Jim Rohn stated: “Success is something you attract by the person you become”.
He also said: The difference between where you are today and where you’ll be five years from now will be found in the quality of the books you read”.
Personal development is the cornerstone of your success. Personal development is all about going to work on bettering yourself.
This is accomplished by reading, listening and watching success, motivation and inspirational material daily.
All leaders in network marketing are huge advocates of personal development.
I am a massive fan of it as it changed my life.
I am not going to get into too much detail however when I first came across a personal development book (think & grow rich) it altered the course of my life forever.
I had always wanted to go into business for myself but could never seem to make it happen until I read that book.
Within 2 months of reading Think & Grow Rich i had started a weight loss company in my home town and within a year of that was a top leader in a network marketing company.
And I attribute both of those successes to getting in the habit of working on myself.
To this day I read at least 30 minutes of a personal development book every day. I also listen to personal development audios when driving in my car.
Success leaves clues my friend and every network marketing professional that I personally know is a huge fan and disciple of daily personal development.
It’s a must!
Professional Tip #3 – Create Your Schedule & Stick to it
The difference between a pro and an amateur is that the pro creates a schedule to work on his/her business and sticks to it.
There is not much more to say about this tip then that.
You must work your business daily…
You need to write your plan and schedule your time and make the rock solid commitment to yourself that no matter what you will stick to your schedule.
You can not let anything outside of an emergency keep you from sticking to your schedule.
Just like going to your job daily, you must go to work on your business.
Professional Tip #4 – Develop the Skill Set of Recruiting
All we do to become a success in network marketing is meet new people daily, become friends with them, ask them if they are open to looking at an opportunity and then following up with those who were to collect their decision.
AKA Recruiting!
Recruiting is the one learned skill set that pays big dollars. And it is a learned skill set. And anyone can learn it.
As I just showed you it is not hard. The process of recruiting is very simple, especially when you learn how to do it on social media.
You need to really grasp and understand that recruiting is what we do as network marketers. It is how we build a large organization, residual income cheque and maintain it.
You will always be recruiting throughout your whole career….
Yes you can slow down somewhat as you start to build a large organization but even then you will want to be sponsoring at least 3 new distributors onto your team every month.
When I first figured out that all I had to do to accomplish all of my goals and dreams was get good at recruiting I got very excited.
All I had to do was learn 1 more skill set in my life and all of my dreams could come true.
Think about that…
Simply learn 1 more skill set and you can write your own ticket!
And before you lie to yourself and say you can’t learn how to recruit, stop and think about the countless skill sets you have already learned in your lifetime. You have learned so many skills in your life that they literally are countless.
And all you have to do is learn 1 more skill…
A skill that is at its core is very simple and that anyone with determination and commitment can not only learn but excel at.
I have tons of training on this blog to help you become a pro at recruiting, including my Prospecting Boot Camp. You can access it here!

Professional Tip #5 – Learn the Art of Building a Team
This business model is unique unto itself as unlike pretty much every other model out there you need a team to be able to create the high levels of success.
The old saying “If it is to be it is up to me” does not apply in this world.
You must have a team that grows with or without you. The large residual income cheques are reserved for those people who have large
The upfront commissions you receive for sponsoring someone or retailing them a box of product are not large.
The large cheques are created by building a large organization of people who use the product monthly and also share the opportunity with others, resulting in the team continuing to grow along with your income.
Building a team is an art form. And you need to learn how to do it correctly.
The main factor involved with successfully building a team is a word called “Duplication”.
Duplication involves creating systems and tools that allow anyone on the team to be able to have success.
It is not a hard concept to implement once you understand how it works, but it is crucial to your success and if you get it wrong you will have a hard time building a successful business.
Pros build teams, amateurs try to do it all themselves.

Wow, wonderful post! This is so true in every way. In order to be successful with network marketing it takes the right mindset. Most of us fail because we don’t have the right focus and drive. I am going to share this, thank you so much for reminding me of this, it is very motivating!
Happy to help Melissa! 🙂
Good solid tips, Robb. Because of some bad experiences and some really obnoxious people on networking events I am a bit hesitant about network marketing. But being open minded is important, that’s why I say ‘hesitant”and not ‘negative’. 🙂
Yes just like anything you have to be taught how to build it the right way and being with a team that is upbeat, positive and supportive is also key. Cheers
Great article and a super video! I love the way you bring your personality and sense of humor to the video! Also I think you are really offering a lot of free help to people.
Thanks Glenn, Yes I try to provide as much value as I can. Glad you enjoyed.
As always, great post, Robb! I’m actually going to reread this for a few times, but first, I wanted to say that the number five is my personal favourite. I’m actually trying to build a small team to help me running my business so that I can focus more on marketing skills. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming!
Right on Ivan, let me know if I can help you out.
Hi Robb,
Thanks so much for the informative post about mindset of a pro. I definitely agreed that all these 5 tips are gold mines and speaking of personal development and using “think and grow rich “ is my favorite. I need to go to work now by setting a schedule, stick with it, and start learning recruiting. People need to read this post and I will share this site to my friends and family to benefit from all the trainings.
Once a gain, thanks for the great post.
Glad you found value in it Benson. Go crush it! 🙂
Thank you for these tips.
I agree that continuous personal development is key when it comes to success and what will determine your success is your work ethic.
I also like the stick to it part.
I failed in Network marketing because of this. whenever I was about to recruit I made excuses not to do it.
I think this is one of the biggest things which make people not succeed.
No question personal development is what will keep you moving forward during the ups and downs. And yes you have to make the commitment to prospect at least 5 people per day no matter what. Activity breeds results.
I think personal development is a must when it comes to success. If you are not educated and reprogrammed for success. you will never get there. You need to change your inner world in order to change your outer reality. That’s simple as that.
I’ve bookmarked your page to come to back.
Thank you so much!
Right on Rani. Cheers man.
