The number one thing to understand when building a successful network marketing business is understanding that leads are the life blood of your business. So it only makes sense that learning network marketing lead generation secrets should be one of your main focuses if you want to be successful in this industry.
It is a fact that if you always have people to share your business opportunity with you will have success. In the end this business is a numbers game. The more people you share your business with the more people are going to say yes.
Now I do hate using the term “secrets”, because it gives the impression that the top leaders or a select few people know something you don’t and are hiding it from you. When in fact nothing could be further from the truth; however I guess if you don’t know how to do lead generation then it is somewhat of a secret to you until you do.
But have no fear in today’s post the so called secrets will be revealed, the veil will be lifted and all ill be made crystal clear as I am going to share 2 of my top lead generation secrets with you.
The Internet is Where Your Best Leads Are
The internet is a game changer for network marketers. The internet is where it is at these days. And both of these methods we are going to look at today use the internet.
Yes you can still generate leads offline, no question. But the cost and effort is much higher and I believe the quality of the leads online are much higher.
Now before get into these 2 methods it is important for you to understand that this post is going to be 100% focused on showing you how to find the leads; however it is not going to get into detail on how to recruit them.
This is a lead generation training, not a recruiting post.
Clearly it is important that you know how to approach and recruit these prospects as well.
So what I recommend you do is after reading this post you check out the following post as well; in it I show you what to say to these prospects to be able to recruit higher numbers of them, and yes I even give you the scripts I use.

Secret #1 – Use Social Media
Never ever ever in the history of network marketing has lead generation been easier.
I am not going to go into details on how difficult it was in the old days to find people to recruit into your business, but trust me it was not easy; you basically were resigned to finding some way to talk to complete strangers everywhere you went.
Whereas nowadays you can simply turn your computer on and log into Facebook and BAM you literally have millions and millions of people at your fingertips to share your opportunity with.
If I had of had that opportunity when I first started out my mind would have been blown.
I can actually remember when the first major social media platform came onto the scene how freaking excited I became. Yes for those of you who remember I am talking about Myspace. I can remember telling other leaders in my company what a game changer it was, how simple it was to prospect people. And yes I recruited people from Myspace.
If you don’t know what Myspace is don’t even worry about it, it is a dinosaur, old and extinct now. Basically it was the predecessor to Facebook and it is now gone.
A Quick Rant – People Are Everywhere Online
I know I am sounding like a parent when I say, you kids have no idea how easy you have it. But it is so damn true.
If you are saying you can’t find people to talk to then you are simply sabotaging yourself. It makes no sense to ask that question. There are people literally everywhere in social media land.
Now granted, YES there is a right and a wrong way to go about finding the right leads and approaching them about your business. Most definitely.
And that is what we are now going to look at. How to use social media and particularly Facebook the right way to generate leads for your business…
The Right Way to Use Social Media
First off I highly recommend you start out with using only Facebook.
It is the biggest of the platforms out there. It has the most people on it by far and it is has the most functionality when it comes to generating leads and prospecting them.
Now you can definitely implement what I am going to show you on any of the other social media platforms. The principles are the same. But start with one and master it before moving to the next.
This strategy focuses on using groups on Facebook.
I am not talking about the spammy network marketing, mlm or make money groups. Don’t even waste your time in those groups.
They are filled with people who don’t have a freaking clue how to prospect. They are simply Spammers.
Which leads me to…
Don’t Be a Spammy Tammy
This strategy is not about posting your company links all over the place. Do not do that as it does not work and it makes the profession of network marketing as a whole look really bad.
Do not post your product links everywhere. Do not say things such as “I am looking to help 5 more people make a $1,000.00 a month”.
If you are doing these things STOP immediately.
What you want to do is provide value and people literally will come to you. I know its mind boggling to believe that leads will come to you, but it is true. Last night I implemented this strategy for 20 minutes and had 3 new leads come to me. Like I said a game changer.
Why You Want to Provide Value
Providing value increases your influence over people. And people who have influence over people are able to easily recruit a large number of those people into their business.
Have you ever wondered how it is that some people who join your company immediately rank advance and shoot up the leader board at lightning speed?
The reason they can do this is because of something they have done in their lives prior to joining network marketing that allowed them to create influence over a large number of people.
And as a result those people listened to them when they approached them about their business opportunity. They took them seriously and looked at the business opportunity.
And the cool thing is that creating value on social media and creating influence is an incredibly straight forward process and one any one can master.
How to Use Groups to Create Value
The first thing you want to do is figure out who your target market is. On Facebook not everyone is a lead. You want a target market. Who do you want to prospect? What type of people do you want on your team?
What are they interested in. What groups do they belong to on Facebook?
The best target market is something you can relate to also. People like just yourself should be your target market. People with the same likes and interests as you. It makes talking to them and relating to them easier.
So write down 3 – 5 of the things that define you.
Is it business, fitness, fishing, exercising, parenting, nutrition, your faith, personal development?
It does not matter, the choice is yours. Figure out who you want to recruit and what they are interested in.
Now go and join 5 groups on Facebook on the topic or topics you choose. I recommend keeping the topics you are going to focus on to no more than 3.
So for me it is business, personal development and internet marketing. Those are my focuses, and my target market are people who enjoy those things.
So I am in groups that are focused on those things.
Now Go Provide Value
Now what you do is daily go into those groups and provide value.
Value could be making your own posts as well as commenting on other people’s posts. Answering questions people ask.
What happens is that your leads in those groups come to see you as an expert on the topic of the group. They come to see you as a person of value. They come to see you as a person who can help them.
Yes you have started to create influence over them.
They will start to follow you and yes they will start to send you friend requests and when that happens you have now generated a lead. Like I said last night alone in only 30 minutes doing this I had 3 new leads send me friend requests.
You also do not have to wait for people to friend request you. You can send the friend requests. Do not send any more then 5 – 10 a day.
Do this every day and you will definitely generate a steady flow of leads for your network marketing business.
What Do You Do Now?
Alright so you have leads now coming to you daily, friend requesting you, following you, sending you messages.
What do you do with them?
Quite simply you continue to do what you did to attract them to you. You continue to provide value on your personal page. You start to have normal human being conversations in messenger.
You resist the urge to spam them. You do not post links about your company or opportunity on your page. You provide value. And when the time is right you ask them if they are open to looking at your network marketing company.

Secret #2 – Recruiting Without Prospecting
I can see some of you reading this right now… what did you just say Robb?
How in the heck can I recruit without prospecting?
I know right? It’s another mind blowing concept.
But believe me it is very real and it is very powerful. Thousands of network marketers have and are using this strategy to build massive teams and create serious incomes.
This method uses the power of the internet as lead generation. Those of us who know and love this method lovingly refer to it as Attraction Marketing.
Attraction Marketing is using the internet to once again provide value; but this time sharing it on YouTube videos, Blog Posts, Facebook pages, Instagram Posts, Tweets, etc etc.
You can use all of these methods or one of them. Like anything else I recommend choosing one method, mastering it before moving on to the next.
Let’s use an example of a blog…
You put out a blog post daily and over time your blog begins to develop followers. People who are interested in the topic of your blog begin to follow it and read it daily and eventually become leads for your business.
With attraction marketing your target market is typically going to be either:
- Opportunity seekers. These are people who are looking for a home based business. So you would provide information on different home based businesses, how to be successful in them, the different options for making money at home,
- People who your product would help. Let’s say your network marketing company has a weight loss product. Your target market could be people looking to lose weight. On your blog you would provide information to help them lose weight, tips, motivation, nutritional advice, recipes, etc.
- Network Marketers. This is my favorite target market. These are fellow network marketers who are looking for help in building a network marketing business. They already know about network marketing. They already believe in it and you don’t need to convince them it is a great industry. And in many cases they are already trained and ready to go. With this target market you would provide valuable information on your blog about how to be successful in network marketing, trainings, tips, motivation, etc.
A quick note: Some people get upset that having fellow network marketers as your target market is stealing people away from other companies. This is a misconception and wrong. You are not looking to poach people.
You are looking for people who are looking for a new opportunity. Either they have been out of network marketing for some time and are looking to get back into the industry, or they are thinking about making a change because something happened in their business or perhaps their company shut down.
Never try and steal someone away from their present company.
How Attraction Marketing Works
So how this works is that by providing valuable information your leads come to see you as an expert. As someone who can help them.
They now become very interested and open to whatever you have to offer them because you have proven you can help them. This could be your network marketing opportunity or your product.
Let’s use my favorite target market of network marketers as an example:
John use to be in network marketing, he sees the potential of the industry. He wanted to create the lifestyle it can provide to him and his family but he could never figure it out and he quit a year ago.
But he can’t it out of his head. Deep down he wants to build a successful network marketing business. He wants the lifestyle, the income and the time freedom it can provide.
So he is still researching online how to build a successful network marketing business. He comes across your blog post, YouTube Video, Facebook Page, etc.
He starts to dig into your content. He likes what he is seeing. The information you are providing makes sense to him. Over time as he reads/watches more of it he comes to believe that he can do this to. He comes to see that YOU can help him become successful.
He makes the decision for himself that he needs and wants to work with you in your network marketing company. He reaches out to you to get information about your opportunity. You have a conversation with him. You provide him with your company information. And John joins you in your company.
Attraction Marketing is the Game Changer
Is your mind blown? Can you imagine getting 5 – 10 Johns a day asking you about your opportunity? Wanting to learn more about what you are doing?
Like I said it is a game changer!!
Now it does take time to get to this point, 6 – 12 months of consistent work. But it is very possible for you and it is an extremely powerful strategy and one I highly recommend you implement.
Now as I have said it does take time to get leads coming in using this method. But once they do start it is a game changer. Most people can stop all other prospecting methods all together because there are so many high quality network marketing leads coming in from this method.
Now having said that I don’t recommend you stop everything and only do attraction marketing. I recommend that you continue to actively prospect until you have too many leads to handle on your own.
The best strategy is to use both of these “secrets” I shared with you today. Being sure to focus 70% of your time on the Facebook method I shared with you and no more than 30% of your time on Attraction Marketing.
Do this and before you know it you are going to see some pretty incredible results.
