Today we are going to take a look at the 3 types of Network Marketing Facebook Posts you should be making if you want to use your Facebook account the right way to recruit distributors into your business.
There is no question that social media sites like Facebook are a Godsend for network marketing.
It was not too long ago that the only way to build a successful business in this industry was completely offline.
You would start out with sharing your opportunity with your friends and family. When you had exhausted that list you very quickly had to figure out how to find ways to meet people around your community or buy and call cold leads.
Both of which were not very effective methods of building a downline.
Meeting people in your community is good and I do recommend it to some degree but it simply does not provide the quantity of leads or prospects you need on a daily basis.
And buying and calling cold leads is not only expensive it is an extremely painful and frustrating process which I do not recommend to anyone.
Social Media Changed All of That
However, social media and at the time this blog post was written Facebook in particular is a completely different matter.
However, there is a lot more to recruiting on Facebook than simply posting about your network marketing opportunity or product.
And that is exactly where most people are going wrong and as a result failing miserably.
Now before I reveal the 3 types of network marketing Facebook posts you should be making I am going to explain what not to do and also show you what to do.
If you just start making the 3 types of posts I am going to share but continue to do everything else incorrectly you are wasting your time.
So pay close attention and take notes!
How Not to Prospect on Facebook
You would think the following “do nots” would be common sense, but as the saying goes, common sense is not that common.
For some reason when networkers log into their social media accounts they completely forget how to be a human being and they turn into Spam Bots!
They become spammy tammy’s.
They forget that social media is supposed to be social.
They forget the reason why they and everyone else enjoy these platforms is because they are a way to interact and socialize with people and be entertained.
There is not one person in the whole wide world who joins Facebook because they want to be sold to.
How to Post The Wrong Way
So don’t do any of the following:
- Do not plaster your opportunity links all over your profile or wall.
- Do not plaster your links on other people’s walls, groups or pages.
- Do not solicit complete strangers by sending them your opportunity website without them first agreeing to it or asking for it.
- Same thing with people you know, do not just send them your opportunity without them agreeing to looking at it.
- Do not make stupid posts on your news feed that say things like: “I am looking for help another 5 people make XXX amount of $ this month”.
None of those things work, if you do them you are going to fail.
Think of Facebook as a Party
Let’s say you were invited to a friend’s party or any party of that matter.
You would not walk into that party and immediately start running around trying to sell your stuff to everyone there.
Nobody would and if they did, they would probably be booted out of the party and most definitely not ever invited to come back.
No what you would do would be:
- Dress nice, look your best.
- Meet new people who you do not know.
- Strike up conversations where you would talk about fun, entertaining and interesting things.
- Maybe you would chat about your family or theirs.
- You might talk about what you are doing this weekend or did last weekend, perhaps the vacation you took or are planning on taking.
- You would laugh, joke, and simply have a good time.
- You would be a normal human being and not a spam machine!
- You would develop relationships and make friends.
When you are prospecting for your network marketing business on Facebook, you want to do the same thing…
The following are the steps to take and the posts to make to crush it…
Step #1 – Your Target Market
The first thing you need to do is decide who you want to target on Facebook. Who are they?
You see on social media not everyone is your target market. You need to get very specific because all of your marketing and the posts you make are going to be dictated by who your prospect is.
I recommend you pick a target market who is similar to you. Has the same likes and interests as you.
This will make posting easier. If you enjoy what you are posting about prospecting becomes fun and a simple process.
You might be into mountain biking, working out, hiking, sailing, entrepreneurship, personal development, business, church, etc etc.
You can pick 1-2 target markets based off what you are into to.
For example, I love personal development and marketing. So my target market are people with those same interests.
Step #2 – Your Profile
Next, you want to make your profile appear attractive to your target market.
Start with your profile picture; make sure it is a picture of just you. Look presentable, and be smiling in the picture.
Next, change your cover photo to be of you doing something interesting, fun, exciting, etc.
Something people would wish they were doing on a Monday afternoon instead of being at work. Friends and family can be in this photo with you. (Unlike your profile pic which is just you in it)
Now go through your old posts and delete any pictures or posts that are crude in nature.
Dirty jokes, photos of you out partying and chugging beer with your friends etc. Controversial posts need to go. Politics should not be something you discuss on your profile either.
Now that your profile is starting to shape up it is time to go and meet your prospects.
Step #3 – Meet People
The next step is to figure out where your prospects hang out on Facebook. What groups or pages do they frequent?
Again using some of the examples from your target market. If you are into hiking, go and join 5 – 10 hiking groups.
Look for activate groups where people are actually communicating and socializing with each other and not just spamming or trying to sell their stuff.
Get into those groups and start getting involved.
Do not go into these groups and start spamming your network marketing business or product to them.
What you want to do is start-making posts that the people in the group will find:
The more you make posts like these the more people are going to get to know you, like you and trust you.
They will start to interact with your posts. They will like them and comment on them.
Be sure to do the same. Like their comments, reply to their comments. Go into the group daily and comment on the posts other members make. Answer questions they ask, be helpful, etc.
You are now starting to make friends…
Step #4 – Make Friends
Network Marketing is all about the relationships and friends you make. Keep that in mind. It is always friends first.
You do not have to be best friends and there is no question that a Facebook friend is a different level of friend than an offline friend.
So when I talk about making friends, I really mean building some rapport, some know, like and trust.
You do not have to wait months and months before you approach these people about your business.
Just get to know them some and have some rapport built before you switch to business mode.
For some prospects, this might happen in under an hour, for others it might be a few weeks. It will all depend on the person.
The key is to continue to meet new people and you will always have people who are ready to be approached about your business.
As you start to post in the groups and start to engage with people in the groups you will begin to get friend requests from them.
You can also start to send friend requests to people that you are interacting with and developing a relationship with in the groups.
One Quick Tip:
Never send or accept a friend request without first sending a private message. The goal is not to collect the highest number of friends possible. The goal is to create relationships.
Quality over Quantity is the name of the game.
So reach out to the people who send you a request and the people you send requests to. Start a conversation.
Just be normal, talk to them with no agenda behind the conversation. Get to know them, their likes, wants and desires, etc. Look at their profile to find common interests, things you can talk about.
Step #5 – Back on Your Facebook Profile
Now you have started to make friends and gather prospects for your network marketing business.
What you want to do now is continue to build the relationship through the posts you make on your wall and the comments you make on other peoples posts as well as having private message conversations.
Before we get into what to post let’s talk about what to do daily on your profile.
First go in and look at your news feed, see what other people have posted. Like and comment on their post. Look for opportunities to start conversations.
Also, look at who is having a birthday today. Do two things, make a happy birthday post on their wall, I like to use a meme or a picture for this as it stands out better than just writing happy birthday.
And also send them a private message wishing them happy birthday. Start a conversation.
Now it is time to start making your posts and there are 3 specific types you want to make when it comes to prospecting for your network marketing on Facebook…
Step #5 – The 3 Types of Posts
The 3 kinds are:
- Educational, Informational and Entertaining posts
- Lifestyle posts
- Curiosity posts
Educational, Informational and Entertaining posts are pretty much exactly what you were doing in the groups.
Make posts that your target audience will enjoy, find useful and informative. Around 60% of the posts you make should be of this nature.
Lifestyle posts are posts of you being you. You enjoying life. Selfies, family photos, fun photos, jokes, etc.
These allow your prospect to see who you are. This helps with the know, like and trust factor. About 30% of the posts you make on Facebook should be this kind.
Curiosity Posts are The Money Posts
This is where you are allowed to start talking about your network marketing business or product.
But do NOT spam.
Do not ruin all of the hard work you have done up until this point. Don’t blow it now. Do not start blasting out links to your company. Do not start asking people if they want to make money, etc.
You don’t want to give it all away. You want to create curiosity in your posts.
You want people to wonder what you are up to.
You want them to have to contact you to get the scoop.
You do not want them to be able to figure out your company or product without getting the information directly from you.
Your curiosity posts are very much like a preview to a movie. They give you just enough to interest you and make you want to watch the movie. Same idea here.
Give them just enough information to make them want to know more.
Example Curiosity Posts
Lets say you are selling a weight loss product, a curiosity post could be a photo of you taking your product (don’t show the same anywhere).
And than you could say:
“Wish me luck, a friend of mine lost 20lbs on this program and now it is my turn”!
Bam that is it…
People will comment and like the photo. If someone asks what it is simply, write under their comment that you will message them. This drives other people crazy, as they want to know also.
You now have a lead for your product, message them and take them through whatever format you use to prospect or sell.
Moving forward your curiosity posts can be you providing people with an update on your weight loss progress or photos and testimonials of other people doing well on it.
As well as any new product launches your company comes out with. Just never, say the name of the product or company.
You can do the same thing for prospecting people for your network marketing business.
Your curiosity post could be along the same lines, simply say something like:
“Wish me luck, I just started a new internet business, a friend of mine is crushing it and is making $2000 a month doing it, my turn”!
Follow up curiosity posts could be you updating them on your progress, welcoming new team members, talking about a training call you are going on, talking about a training event you are planning on attending, etc etc.
Make curiosity posts about 10% of the time.
