It is funny to me that the first thing you are taught to do when looking at starting a traditional business is create a business plan, but you rarely hear tell of people having a Network Marketing Business Plan.
Pretty wild in my opinion. A business plan is crucial to any businesses success and it should be no different in network marketing.
Maybe this is why the failure rate is so high? People have no idea what they are supposed to be doing.
If you don’t have a plan you are planning to fail. If you don’t know how you are going to reach your goals how are you ever going to reach them?
A plan is just good common sense. So good for you for reading this post; to me it means you are one of the people who take building their business very seriously.
Today I am going to share with you a business plan that you can follow to really get your downline rocking.
There are 4 main components to a successful network marketing business plan and we are going to dive into each of them.
Create a Realistic Schedule
Success in anything in life is all about having a daily plan of action and sticking to it.
You need to set your schedule and never waiver from it. Your business needs to be treated like it is your job that you MUST go to.
If you say you are working on it from 6 – 9 pm Monday thru Friday than you make sure you do, nothing gets in the way.
In that regard treat it just like your day job.
You could not tell your boss that you are not working today because you don’t feel like it, or you are tired or you would rather watch the Price is Right on TV.
None of those excuses would fly and it should not with your network marketing business either.
Now having said that your schedule needs to be realistic.
Most people originally create a plan and think they can do more than they really will be able to. They are not realistic with the time they allot to build their business.
They may say they can work 4 – 5 hours a day on it when in fact 2 – 3 is more realistic.
Starting out network marketing is a part time business. You have other responsibilities that you will need to allot time to. So take those into consideration.
It would be great if we could all spend 8 – 10 hours a day on our business but that is simply not realistic starting out.
If you overwhelm yourself you will get frustrated and quit. A little bit of action daily is better than a whole lot of action and then quitting because you get overwhelmed.
And in reality you can build a very successful downline in 2 – 3 hours a day.
We have all heard the story of the turtle and the hare. Be like the turtle. Slow and steady, never quavering, never quitting!
So set a realistic schedule and put it in stone. Once it is set that is it you are sticking to it come hell and high water.
There is no question this is the reason people fail in this industry, they simply do not do what is required on a daily basis.
Be one of the people who does what they say they will do and great things will happen for you!
OD on PD (Overdose on Personal Development)
The saying Leaders are Readers is bang on. I do not know a Network Marketing leader who does not read personal development, motivation and training books on a daily basis.
In fact if my business building activities slow down; if I am not reaching my daily goals or I am getting frustrated it is because I have slipped and missed a couple of days of personal development.
I will share with you what I do daily, but at the minimum I recommend you spend 30 minutes every day reading a motivational book. This will keep you fired up and focused on doing what is required.
It will help you push on when the road gets bumpy which it surely will from time to time.
Personally what I do daily is wake up and read for 20 minutes from a motivational book.
I than turn on a YouTube motivational video while I am eating breakfast.
At night I allot at least 30 minutes towards industry training. Industry training is reading blog posts like this, watching videos from other leaders and reading network marketing books.
Then right before I go to bed I read my personal development book for 10 – 15 minutes. Going to sleep thinking about inspirational and motivational material is a big deal!
Another great way to get some PD into your head is to get rid of the radio when you are driving in your car, instead listen to personal development material.
Figure out your own routine and what works for you, but the key is to make sure you get it done daily.
I have my doubts if anyone can have success in network marketing without doing personal development daily.
Success leaves clues and this is one of them. All top earners are huge advocates of personal development. So Just Do It!
Team Building and Duplication
Learning how to build a downline in network marketing is a key component of your success.
Now you might be thinking to yourself that all you need to do is recruit and the downline will take care of itself.
Although I am a huge advocate of becoming a top dawg recruiter there is more to building a team than just recruiting.
In this business the saying “if it is to be it is up to me” does not apply!!
In network marketing you need a team to become a top earner. You cannot do it on your own.
“The key to your success is in your ability to get a large group of people to perform simple activities on a consistent basis over a long period of time.”
In order to accomplish this you need to become a leader who has trainings and systems in place for your team members to be able to grow their own downlines and to feel a part of something.
This is successfully accomplished by keeping the business building activities duplicatable. Which really means keeping them simple.
In order for you to grow a large downline everyone on the team must be able to successfully do the activities that are required.
Before you promote or recommend any activity to your team you need to ask yourself not whether the activity works but whether it is duplicatable.
Let’s say for example you pay to have a big bill board about your opportunity displayed in New York on Time Square.
Yes you will recruit people, but nobody on your team will be able to pay for a bill board in Times Square so your business will not grow.
Because what you do your team thinks they need to do.
Now you can tell the people you recruit that what they need to do is go and share the business with their friends and family or prospect on social media but they are not going to do those things because that is not what you did to recruit them.
So they think you are holding out on them. They will think you are not sharing with them how to really build a business.
Now that is an extreme example, but it makes the point very well.
Keep the activities simple and duplicatable. As your team grows leaders will start to emerge and there are additional strategies you can implement with them.

Become a Monster Recruiter
OK this is the big one my friend.
First before I get into this it is important to understand that because of the internet and social media becoming a monster recruiter is very do-able, simple and a straight forward process for anyone who has the desire and commitment to learn.
Recruiting is what we do in network marketing and it needs to make up the majority of your business plan.
I heard Dani Johnson say years ago that it did not matter if you were making $100,000 or $1000 per month in your business if you were not recruiting new reps into your business monthly your business was going backwards.
By the way this is great news!
Think about all of the skill sets you have learned over the course of your life. They are literally countless!
All you have to do is develop 1 more!
Learn 1 more skill set and you live the life of your dreams. Learn how to recruit 3 – 5 new distributors into your downline each month and you can literally write your own ticket.
Yes of course learning how to prospect and recruit takes time. Yes of course you are not going to master it overnight and yes of course you will have set backs and frustrations as you learn and develop this new skill set…
…BUT it is very do-able for you and it is so worth it!
And now a days with the internet and social media recruiting has become much easier than it was 10 – 15 years ago.
Online prospecting is a much simpler process than offline. People are everywhere online and if you use the right strategies signing them into your business is straight forward process.

I would recommend that 80% of your plan is geared towards prospecting. It is that important to your success.
Time for Some Action
You now have a network marketing business plan that will work great, but it really means nothing without action.
Making yourself get into action and staying there is the number 1 ingredient to your success. Consistent persistent action trumps everything else.
