So what are the best Network Marketing Advertising Ideas? Well that is a tricky question and what I am about to say is going to mess with some of your heads and probably irritate some of you and I am OK with that because I always speak the truth whether it is the popular thing to say or not.
The answer is do not waste your time advertising your network marketing business!
Robb what in the name of all things holy are you talking about?
Well to put it bluntly advertising does not work with this business.
Successful network marketing downlines are built just as the name implies, by networking.
There should be a vote taken across the whole industry to have the name changed to Relationship Marketing, because in the end, that is what it is and that is how you build a business that lasts!
Here is Why Advertising Your Network Marketing Business Does Not Work
Let’s say you come up with some fancy dancy advertising idea. It’s really nice and catchy. I mean this is a great ad.
You decide to run it in Entrepreneur magazine. Who knows how much that costs, I have not priced out magazine ads in years. But I’m sure it’s not cheap.
Let’s say it is a small ad and being conservative, let’s say it runs you $2,500. I am sure I am lowing balling this big time, but let’s go with it.
Well to your surprise, you get some response to your ad. You get some people calling you and you get some people to join your opportunity.
Well wait a second Robb I thought you said advertising does not work?
Slow your roll my friend, I was getting to the good stuff.
So you sign these people up, they are keen and ready to go.
You now tell them to make a list of a 100 friends and call those friends and ask them if they are interested in an opportunity.
Ummm Say What?
That is going to be their exact reaction. Ummm say what? Why in the heck would I make a list of my friends and family and ask them if they are interested in an opportunity.
You try to explain to them that is how a network marketing business is built.
They are going to immediately say to you:
“That is NOT what you did, you ran an ad and I responded to it, I want to run an ad, how do I do that and how much does it cost”?
See where I am going with this next?
It Does Not Matter if It Works
Your ad for all intents and purposes worked. You signed people up. But you have lost every single one of them immediately after. They will all quit.
The reason is that 99% of the people you enroll by running that ad are not going to have the $2,500.00 smackers kicking around to be able to run an ad.
And it does not matter how many times you tell them they need to share their business with their friends and family they are not going to do it because in their mind they believe that in order to be successful they have to run ads just like you did!
You see what you do duplicates or try’s too duplicate.
What you do people on your team are going to think they have to do.
It does not matter if the recruiting methods works to enroll people, what matters is if it duplicates.
Will other people on your team be able to do it also?
Never ask if a method works, but rather ask if it works and will it duplicate!
In the majority of cases, advertising does not duplicate and as a result, in most cases you should not do it.
What About Internet Advertising?
Same idea applies here my friend.
First off all running ads on the internet is not cheap, it can be quite costly so you are going to run into the same problem we just talked about.
Second of all running advertisements online is complicated.
Sites like Facebook and Google do not make it easy to set up your ads, there is a technical learning curve associated with them.
But here is the real kicker. These sites hate network marketers!
They really truly do hate us; and they do not want us advertising on their platforms and as a result, 99% of the time your ads will not be approved or if they are initially approved they will be shut down very quickly afterwards.
But Robb, I see people advertising their business or themselves as networkers on social media all the time?
What you are seeing is called Attraction Marketing.
People in our industry decide to use attraction marketing as a method of generating leads. I use it also; however, I do so with my blog instead of paid advertising.
Some people run ads on Facebook from their business page.
Here is the truth with that; the majority of those people have been running ads for years.
Back in the early days, social media sites were all right with us running ads to a network marketing business. That has changed over the years to the point it is even in their terms of service that you can not.
People who continue to be able to run ads seem to be Grand Fathered in. Facebook for some reason allows them to continue to advertise even though they are in the network marketing industry.
But new people just starting out are not be able to.
If you don’t believe me go and quickly try to run an ad with Network Marketing in it, it will either not be approved or shut down within a couple of days.
It’s Not Fair
I agree 100%. These social media companies do not play fair. They do whatever they like. They are in complete control and you can’t do a thing about it.
If your ad is shut down and you contact them wanting to know why they approve other peoples ads and not yours they will not even reply to you.
I know this from experience.
I was not one of the “lucky” leaders who started advertising on these platforms early on and when I gave it a try it was a nightmare.
I paid one of the top Attraction Marketing companies somewhere in the range of $5000 to teach me how to do it. They promised the world, and it should be evident from this blog that when I do something I am all in. I did what they instructed to the letter.
I was a great student, I did all of their training and started launching ads and bam they would get shut down. My ad account would get locked and my ad would get taken down.
I asked this company who was training me about this and what I should do and their reply was basically that you had to advertise network marketing without letting the social media platform know it was network marketing!
Yup they wanted you to come up with words that a person reading the ad would understand as being network marketing but that the social media ad company would not.
Haha, come on! it’s a scam and this company should be ashamed of themselves.
Trust me stay away from social media advertising it will not work and it can be a costly and painful learning experience as I found out the hard way.
So if I Can’t Advertise What Should I Do?
Here is the great part my friend.
Many people think advertising will be the simple way to build a network marketing business. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Learning how to get good at advertising whether offline or online is a difficult task and it is expensive.
Whereas simply learning how to get good at recruiting is an easy and straight forward thing to do.
Most people struggle with it because they are doing it wrong. If done correctly it becomes part of who you are, very routine and almost second nature.
There are 4 methods of recruiting that I primarily train on, they are:
#1 – Your Warm Market
Everyone absolutely must start here. It is the foundation of any successful downline.
Skip this market and I have serious doubts if you will ever become a success in this industry.

#2 – Living Your Life
This is exactly as it sounds. As you are out doing what you are doing anyway on any normal day simply keep your eye open for opportunities to meet people.
I did not say keep your eye open for opportunities to prospect or solicit people; do not do that, just meet them.
You can meet people at work, the gym, sporting events, parties, kid’s activities, the hair salon, etc.
What I recommend is everyone you meet simply add them as a friend on your social media account and develop the relationship further there.
#3 – Social Media Marketing
This is where most people will spend most their time recruiting after they have worked their warm market.
It is a great strategy because it works well, it is simple and it will duplicate within your team.
Of course, there is a right way and a wrong way to build your business on social media so make sure you are trained before you run off and try to prospect people.
#4 – Attraction Marketing
Yes I do recommend this method, however just not the paid advertising strategy that some people promote.
There are many options for doing attraction marketing. Blogging, video marketing, using your Facebook personal profile, Instagram, Podcasts, etc.
It is a good strategy for generating network marketing leads but it is not for everyone. It does take time, effort and money to get good at it to the point where you are actually seeing a return on your investment and generating any leads.
If it is of interest to you, I always recommend you do it on top of the other 3 methods and not in place of.
