I would bet that at least 99% of the people who are or were in this industry joined because they thought becoming a Multi Level Marketing Success would be an easy thing to do.
They had a friend or a family member who convinced them that it was an easy business to build and all they had to do was share the opportunity with a few friends and family and everyone would want to join up.Â
Those friends and family would then go and share the business with a few people and before you know it you would have a massive MLM business with thousands of people in it earning you a serious residual income.
However, we all very quickly come to realize this is not how it goes.
Yes, the odd time every once in a while someone will get lucky and sponsor a complete rock star within their first few weeks who completely blows up their business for them.
But that is the exception and not the norm; and for the average network marketer that is most definitely not the way it goes.
Multi Level Marketing Success – The Truth
The truth of the matter is that MLM is just like any other business model on the planet. It takes time, it takes effort and it takes commitment and dedication to become successful with it.
If you are serious about becoming a success, are willing to learn what it takes to do so and then will go to work putting what you learn into action and are committed to making it happen no matter what, well then you have a very real shot at creating serious success in the multi level marketing industry.
As you will see in this post creating success in this industry is not rocket science. It is something you can absolutely do. But there are some key things you need to know in order to make sure you become one of the industry’s success stories.
In fact there are 7 Key things you need to know and you are in luck because I am going to share all 7 of them with you in this post today! 🙂
Let’s get to it…
Key #1 – Join an Excellent Company With Excellent Products
The first key to your success is to join the right kind of network marketing company.
The fact is that not all companies are created equal. You want to make sure you are not getting roped into joining a company that is not legitimate.
One of the sure ways to make sure of this is to check to make sure they are a part of the DSA, the direct selling association. This is an organization that regulates and ensures that all of its members are legitimate and are run by the highest standards.
If the company you are thinking about joining is a member of the DSA you can be sure they are a good company.
You also want to do your homework in regard to the products. Are they quality products?
There will always be negative reviews when you do a google search for any product, but if you dig through the nonsense out there you will be able to find the truth about the product.
The key is to do your research on the company and the product to make sure they are solid. Do not just join the first one you come across.
Key #2 – The Price is Right
When I talk about the price I am talking about the price of joining the network marketing company as a distributor as well as the price of the product itself.
There is no reason to ever spend thousands of dollars on becoming a distributor for a company.
Most companies have different price points that you can join at. I would recommend joining at their higher level as there is a very strategic reason for doing so that will help you build a more profitable business.
However, I would never recommend spending more than $1,500.00 and with most companies you could sign up at their higher level for much less than that. Companies that charge 2 – 5k to join are a big red flag in my books.
The other area to watch when it comes to price is the actual price of the product itself.
The truth of the matter is that your long term success in multi-level marketing is going to come down to how many people continue to use the product when they stop building the business.
Lots of people join businesses and then quit, it will happen with your business I promise you.
When this happens your success is going to be contingent on a large percentage of them continuing to buy and use the product monthly.
If the product is too expensive they are not going to do this. If they can go down to their local store and buy the same sort of product but at a cheaper price they are not going to buy yours anymore.
The key here is to make sure the product you are promoting is competitively priced.
Key #3 – Products Must Be Consumable
As well as being priced competitively the product should also be a consumable product.
This leads to repeat monthly orders. This is a big one. Lots of products in this industry people only buy one time as it is not consumable. That is a big mistake.
You want to market a product that people will consume on a regular basis so you continue to get repeat business from them month after month.
Key #4 – Join a Supportive Team
Multi Level Marketing is very much a team sport. You need to make sure that when you join you look into who is sponsoring you and what team they are a part of. Who are the leaders?
Does this team have systems and training in place to support you and to teach you how to build the business?
Do they have a culture that will make you and the distributors you recruit feel a part of something?
This is a very hard business to build on your own. You need leaders who will show you the ropes. Leaders who have a vested interest in your success and will go the extra mile to help you become the best you can be.
Trying to build this business and create all of the systems, training and culture by yourself is a very difficult thing to do. You definitely want to tap into and become a part of an active and growing team.
Key #5 – Never Give Up
Everything else I share with you in this post or in any of my other training means nothing if you don’t do this.
Success in anything worthwhile comes to those who have the never quit attitude.
You are going to have ups and downs. You are going to have setbacks and experience frustration and you are going to want to quit I can assure you. It will happen.
The people who make it in Multi Level Marketing are those who keep on keeping on no matter what. They push through the adversity. They do what needs to be done regardless of how they feel.
I once had a friend who was the captain of her NCAA basketball team, she was a tremendous athlete. On a daily basis she would go to her team practice, hit the weight room, do cardio training and work on her skills. We are talking about hours of training daily.
She once told me that the day you don’t want to work out is the day you absolutely must work out.
The same thing goes for your business. No matter what, make sure you do what needs to be done, even on the days you don’t want to.
Success is given to the people who earn it. It is hard to beat a person who never quits, and the people who have that attitude in this business are the ones who end up making it to the top.
Key #6 – Commit to Learning How a Successful MLM Business is Built
Success in MLM requires that you learn certain skills that are unique to this business. Just like any skill you need to commit to learning it.
Do not think you know it all. Trust me you don’t. You must learn exactly what it takes to make it in this business.
Lots of people join a network marketing company and don’t bother to go through the training.
They run around trying to build the business with know idea what they are doing and as a result then end up blowing it right from the start.
There is no question that if you spent thousands of dollars on buying a franchise you would go to the franchise training sessions. You would learn exactly what it takes to run that franchise successfully.
The same thing needs to apply with your MLM business. Take the time to learn all of the skills you need, and then give yourself the time to get good at them.
Key #7 – Put What You Learn Into Action
Everything we just covered means absolutely nothing if you don’t put all of this into action.
You can join the best company in the world, become a part of the best team in the industry, and have the best product the MLM world has ever seen and that will mean jack squat if you don’t get into action and stay there.
The reason most people fail at things in life is they simply don’t do anything. It would literally blow your mind what you can accomplish if you would simply try.
Trust me achieving multi level marketing success will be well worth doing whatever it takes my friend. And the great news is that you can absolutely achieve it if you make the decision to do so.
I wish you the greatest of success!

Wow! Great article. I’m currently in a MLM and struggle with building my team. I’m very passionate about it but during the pandemic it is hard to get the word out there. Your tips are spot on and I agree with the last tip. People let fear creep in and they don’t put everything into action. Do you have some tips to battle the fear some people get when trying to build there business? I look forward to reading your future posts. This article was very valuable and I’ll be looking for more updates from you.
Thanks again!
Hey Jaime, most of the fear is as a result of not being trained correctly. When people learn how to build the business the right way it takes much of the fear away. However in the end successful people feel the fear, and do what is required anyway. Cheers man.
“Put what you learn into action,” caught my attention. This is all-important. We must exercise self-discipline (doing what needs to be done when it should be done, even if we are not in the mood to do so). I agree that a lot of people fail because they just did not do anything. Success in any and every business needs us to ACT. Yes, we must learn all we can, but we must act. Great article! Thank you.
100%, way to many people get stuck in analysis paralysis! Learn and Do is the key!
All excellent points.
Your first key really stood out to me – Join an excellent company with excellent products. That’s really the most important, isn’t it? Promoting quality products that you would use and recommend yourself makes it that much easier.
Hi Leah, Yes it is definitly a major factor!
