If you are looking for the best MLM Recruiting Scripts to use to be able to sponsor large numbers of new distributors into your MLM or Network Marketing business then this post is for you my friend.
In this post, I am going to fill you in on the truth about scripts. Which will include exactly what to say to your prospects in order to increase the number of new distributors you successfully sponsor into your downline each month.
I can remember when I first got started in this business one of my first questions to my upline was “what do I say to people when I call them about my business”? Which is a valid question and one that most network marketers should ask when they are first getting started.
You clearly do not want to blow it with your prospects by saying the wrong thing. And you most definitely can if you are not careful.
I mastered what to say and as a result, I had great success with prospecting the people I knew (warm market) and when I transitioned to the cold market (strangers) I then went to work and figured out what I had to say to those prospects.
I have pretty much tried every method of recruiting known to man.
From buying and calling cold leads to putting fliers on car windshields to cold calling Realtors, you name it I have done it and each time I figured I had to master a new fancy dancy ultra powerful recruiting script for each kind of lead.
Here is what I have discovered and the truth of the matter…
I Was Wrong
Scripts are for sales people. You are not a sales person!
We do not sell in the MLM industry. You do not have to learn or master high-powered sales techniques; which also means you do not have to learn a ton of MLM recruiting scripts.
In fact, if you do learn high tech sales strategies and try to use them to build your business you will fail in the long run.
This is the truth my friend.
But the choice is yours.
You can choose to not believe me and head out and try to learn a million different scripts based on your prospects personality, color, zodiac sign or whatever. It’s your decision.
It’s your business and if that is what you think you need to do then have at it.
But I will tell you right now you are setting yourself up for failure and a heck of a lot of frustration.
Don’t Misunderstand Me
Now I am not saying you should not know what to say to a prospect, you clearly should. That is called be scripted.
There is a difference between using scripts and being scripted. Being scripted simply means you know what to say and when, verses reading from someone else’s script.
In this post I will show you the difference between the two and the best way to approach a prospect and get them to take a look at your opportunity.
The beauty of what I am going to share with you is that it is simple!
Recruiting scripts not only do not work they are difficult to learn and master. What I am going to share with you today works incredibly well and is simple!
Alright lets get to it…
First, Understand the Recruiting Process
You really need to understand the recruiting process in order to grasp what I am sharing with you.
MLM and Network Marketing businesses are built on the relationships you have with people now and the relationships you will have with people in the future.
This is why it is often referred to as a sharing business. You will simply be sharing your opportunity with the people you have relationships with.
You start out by making a list of all of the people you already know.
Next you do NOT go to the people on this list and try to sell to them. You do not memorize a fancy dancy sales script and repeat it verbatim to these people.
They will see right through it. They know you; they know how you talk and what you sound like. If you are reading off a script, they are going to be able to tell and you will lose them.
If someone feels like you are trying to sell to them they are gone. Nobody likes to be sold to.
On top of that if they feel like you are selling to them or that you had to memorize a script they are also gone.
This is because when you are recruiting someone they are watching what you do. They are thinking to themselves what you are doing they will have to also do if they join your business.
And guess what? Not very many people want to be sales people.
So What Do You Do?
You be you! You be a normal human being, not a sales robot.
You call your friend up and simply say something like:
“Hey Jeff, how’s things? Listen I recently started an internet business and wanted to ask if you would do me a favor and take a look at it for me”.
That is it my friend.
Now notice I said “say something like”!
That means don’t copy what I just said verbatim. Say something like it. Make it your own. Be you.
You want to be scripted, which means you want to know what the outcome is. What your goal is in having the conversation with your prospect. Which is clearly to get them to look at your opportunity.
So call them up. Be yourself. And simply ask them to do you a favor and look at your opportunity.
Head this Warning
OK the following is an important warning for you.
Do not beat around the bush. Get straight to the point. You are calling to ask them to look at your opportunity. Get there as quick as you can.
Do not spend 15 minutes talking about the weather, their kids, sports, etc. Get to the point.
Many people feel bad that they have not spoken to someone for a while, so they try to warm the prospect up or “catch up” before broaching the subject of their business.
Don’t do that, people will read through it. They will be wondering the whole time why the heck is Robb really calling me.
Then after 15 minutes of small talk when you finally bring up your business you will almost be able to hear them groan.
They will be thinking to themselves:
“Now I know why he called; now I know why he wasted my time for 15 minutes, just to try and butter me up about his business, son of a gun”.
Just cut to the chase quickly. People will respect you for it.
I will even say the following to people when I call them:
“Hey Pete, how’s things? Good man, listen I know we have not spoken in a while, and I would love to have a beer or coffee sometime and catch up, but the reason I am calling you is I have recently started an internet business and I wanted to see if you would do me the favor of taking a look at it”.
An Internet Business Say What?
Notice in my “script” I say I started an internet business?
The reason I do this is that everyone is curious about internet businesses. Everyone would love to have an internet business.
It intrigues them and makes them curious.
And it is also the truth. Every MLM business out there operates on the internet.
You will be sharing recruiting videos with your prospect that are on the internet.
Your training are probably webinars, which are on the internet.
Your team probably has recruiting and training Facebook pages, which are clearly on the internet.
And if you follow any of my training as soon as you are done prospecting the people you know (your warm market), you will start doing cold market recruiting on social media.
So guess what my friend? You have an internet business.
Use that in your “script” and you will get more people interested.
Do Me a Favor
You probably also noticed that I asked people if they would do me a favor.
With your warm market, I have found this works the best. Your warm market are friends and family and in the majority of cases, they will do you a favor.
I use different wording in the cold market, which I will cover later on in this post.
Don’t Blow It Now
All right so you have asked a warm market prospect if they will do you a favor and look at your internet business.
You will get one of the following 3 replies:
- What is it?
So first off if you get a No, simply move on, do not try and convince people to do something they don’t want to. That is not your job. If you try to convince them it will only cause you frustration.
Your job is to work through your list of people to find out who is open to looking at it.
If someone says “What is it” do not fall into the trap of trying to explain it to them. That is sales. Remember we are not in the sales business.
Simply say something like:
“Well John to be very upfront I am new at it and would totally mess it up if I tried to explain it to you, I have a short 5-minute video I will send you which will do a much better job of explaining it, when would you be able to watch it”.
And if someone says Yes they will look at it, say basically the same thing:
“Right on, appreciate that. I have a short 5-minute video I will send you that will show you what I am up to. When do you think you will be able to watch it”?
The Importance of 3rd Party Tools in MLM Recruiting
All right so in my “scripts” you will notice I said I was sending them a short 5-minute video right.
That video is what is considered a 3rd party tool.
A 3rd party tool is anything other than YOU that does all of the selling and telling about your opportunity and product for you.
It is crucial that we allow the experts who are good at selling do it for us. Let them create the sales presentations and marketing materials for us.
All we need to do is find out if someone is open to looking at the opportunity and then provide them with a 3rd party tool to do all of the heavy lifting for us.
Pretty cool and it works very well.
A 3rd party tool could be a video, webinar, conference call, hotel meeting, home meeting, Facebook page/group, etc.
Any recruiting tool that your company or upline has put together for you to use to share the opportunity and products with you prospects.
Follow Up & Closing Script
Now we come to the important stage in the process, follow up and closing.
You have heard the saying that the fortune is in the follow up right?
It truly is. What blows my mind and I find completely stunning and incredibly hard to believe is that the majority of network marketers do not bother to follow up!
That blows my mind.
They go through all of the hard work. They do the heavy lifting of approaching a prospect, getting them to agree to looking at their business, and provide them with a 3rd party tool but then leave out the crucial part of the equation, the follow up!
I can only guess why people do this and I believe it is because it is crunch time and they are afraid.
People are going to let you know if they are interested or not. As humans, we hate to be rejected and there is a chance you are going to be rejected at this point in the process.
People get scared of this. They get cold feet. They convince themselves if someone is interested, they will call them back and tell them.
It does not work that way. I do not care if your prospect is the most interested and keen prospect in the history of MLM, life will get in the way. As a result, they will not call you back.
You MUST call them back and follow up.
The closing stage of the follow up call is the only time I actually use a script and it is a powerful one, ready for it?
My Closing Script
This is a simple script but it works very well.
It has 2 parts to it, write this down and use it.
Part 1 – When I call them up at the set time we agreed to follow up I say:
Me: “Hey Beatrice, how’s things, did you get a chance to watch the video I sent you?”
Beatrice: “Yes Robb I did”. (If they have not watched it just confirm when they will and set a new follow up time)
Me: “Right on, so what did you like about it”?
That right there is the magic my friend. Ask them what they liked about it. Now shut your yapper (mouth). Say nothing more.
Let them tell you what they liked about it. Let them go on and on.
All you want to do at this point is agree with them. Whatever they liked you like also.
Part 2 – When they are done telling you what they liked about it, move to part 2.
Me: “Well Beatrice, it sounds to me like you are ready to get started”!
Bam! That is gold.
Now here comes the really hard part. You must not speak. There is going to be in many cases an awkward silence at this point. The person that breaks the silence loses.
What is going to happen is again 1 of 3 things:
- They will say yes they are ready to get started. (Sign them up right then and there).
- They will say no it is not for them. (Thank them and move on to the next. I do recommend putting them in your calendar to follow up with them in 3 -6 months as things always are changing in people’s lives and you never know when they might be interested later on)
- They will be interested but they will have questions. (Do not answer the questions; instead provide them with a 3rd party tool that will answer the questions and start the process again i.e. 3rd party tool, then follow up, then closing script)
Cold Market Recruiting
All right so what I just shared with you is exactly how you want to work your warm market. Which again is the people you already know when you are getting started in your MLM business.
Once you have gone through everyone you know you now need to find more people to prospect. You always want to have your funnel filled with prospects.
The key to your success is keeping your funnel filled. You will need to do this your entire career.
I have 3 cold market strategies that I recommend.
- Living Your Life (I recommend everyone does this)
- Social Media (I recommend everyone does this)
- Attraction Marketing (I only recommend this as an extra strategy people do on top of warm market, living life and social media. I never recommend you do this one instead of any of the others, and it is not for everyone as it has a steep learning curve, but can be very powerful once it is rolling for you).
Each one of these have their own variation of the recruiting “script” I shared with you in this post.
