Today I am going to share with you some of the very best MLM Marketing Tips I ever received when I was starting out building this business.
There is no question in my mind that they are part of the reason I was able to create the success I did in this industry and there is no reason why they can’t do the same thing for you, if you really want them to.
What I just said is a huge tip by the way: “If you really want them to.”
You see most people join this industry without giving it much thought. Someone they knew approached them about this opportunity to make a lot of money, probably begged them to join and as a result they joined and said “what the heck let’s give this a try”.
They were not serious and they really did not believe they were going to be a success, and as a result they really did not want it that bad.
If they wanted it bad enough they would have gone to work as you are right now, learning the business, developing the skill sets required and going to work making it happen.
As the late and great business philosopher Jim Rohn said: “If you want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
So good for you for taking the time to discover and learn the skills required to become a success in your business.
The following MLM Marketing tips will help you get started on the right path, so let’s get you rolling…
Tip #1 – Learn How to Market Your Business
I can remember back when I was struggling to figure out how to build my business and generate leads. One of the best tips I ever received was to put the “marketing” back into Multi-Level Marketing!
You probably already are aware that this industry is also referred to as Network Marketing.
It is a very peculiar thing to me how most people in this business understand that you have to “network” in order to build a successful business, BUT they almost always forget the “marketing” part of the equation.
Both Multi-Level Marketing & Network Marketing have the word “marketing” right there in the name, however the majority of the people in the business don’t have a clue how to market and don’t even realize that they need to.
Is it any wonder that the failure rate is so high?
Most people join a company, talk to a few friends, those friends say “no” to the opportunity and that is it, it is all over, they are done, they quit and are out of business before they even got started.
Can you imagine if someone opened a new auto parts store or any other business for that matter; and then only told their family and a few friends about their new business and then never did any other marketing at all?
That would never happen, nobody would do that.
When people sink big money into traditional businesses, whether it is one they start from the ground up, buy from someone else or purchase as a franchise, they don’t just tell a few friends about it, no they go to work marketing the heck out of it.
MLM Should Be No Different
MLM is a business like any other. It is not a hobby, it is not something you try, it is a business that must be taken very seriously if you want to be successful.
You absolutely want to start with your warm market, your friends and family. It is the foundation and cornerstone of your business. It is how all long term successful organizations are built.
But your warm market is finite, it will run out.
You only know so many people, and when you have shared your opportunity with ALL of them you must find new ways of marketing your business.
The secret when you are starting out is to spend 70% of your time focused on sharing your opportunity with the people that you know. With the remainder of your time start learning other strategies to market your business.
This way when you have tapped your warm market you are able to continue right on building your business with the other methods you have learned.
There are 3 main marketing strategies I recommend you focus on, you can learn about them here:
Tip #2 – Not A Sales Business
This is a biggy and where so many people go wrong.
Most people believe their job is to sell products or convince people to join their business.
Neither of which you should ever do.
This misconception is a major reason why people never really get going building their business. They are afraid of coming across to their friends and family as a pushy salesperson.
Nobody likes to sell.
So most people shy away from it and simply will not do it. They will join the business and tell a couple of really close friends about it, and that is it because they do not want to be perceived in a negative light with the people they know.
This is not a sales business. We do not sell. We do not try to convince people to buy or join.
So you are probably wondering if we don’t sell what exactly we do?
Simply Ask If They Are Open
This business is truly a simple business when you truly understand how it is built.
All we do is start with the people we already know and just ask them if they are open to taking a look at an opportunity.
That is truly all there is to it.
Pick up your phone or send a message on Facebook, telling them you recently got involved in a new internet business and you are contacting them to see if they are open to doing you a favor and taking a look at it.
That is it!!
Anyone can do that. It’s simple and it is designed to be.
If the person is open to doing you a favor and taking a look at it, send them a link to your company’s business presentation. Let the business presentation do ALL of the selling for you.
Then follow up and collect their decision, is it for them or not?
Some will want to join right then and there, some will want more information and some will not be interested. And all 3 of those results are a-ok!
You are simply sorting and sifting through people to find those who want to lock arms with you and go to work building a residual income stream of their own.
Rinse and repeat…
Start with the people you know. Then through your marketing activities’ that we talked about in tip #1, you are going to go out and meet new people and develop some rapport with them.
Which just means you are going to go make new friends!
Once you do you will do the same thing all over again, ask them if they are open to taking a look at an opportunity, if they are, give them the link to your company’s business presentation, follow up and collect their decision…
When people get their heads around what we do here, they realize how simple it is to build a MLM business.
Now do not get me wrong, I did not say it was easy, I said it was simple.
There is no question that like everything else worthwhile success does take time, you are going to get more people saying “No” it is not for them, but if you do the activities’ daily and sort through the people you are going to get people joining you and you will build a profitable business.
Which leads to the next tip…
Tip #3 – Success is a Numbers Game
It is a stone-cold fact that if you speak with enough people you will create a wildly successful business. The reason most people are not successful in network marketing is they don’t talk to enough people about their opportunity.
This is a numbers game and just like the casinos in Vegas, you control the numbers. You control how many people you speak with about your opportunity.
As you start working the numbers, and go to work sort and sifting through people a ratio is going to appear.
Meaning you are going to figure out how many people you will need to speak with to recruit 1 person into your downline.
For some networkers this might be 10 people they need to speak with, for others it might be 20 people. As you get better at prospecting you can improve on your numbers.
At the very least you want to be sponsoring 2 people a month into your business.
As you work the numbers you can figure out how many people you need to be speaking to monthly to hit your goal of at least 2 people.
My advice is to set a goal of sponsoring at least 5 people a month.
If it takes you speaking to 20 people per month to sponsor 1 person, that means you have to speak with 100 people per month to sponsor 5 new distributors.
Using the marketing methods I train on prospecting a 100 people a month is easy. If you are working 5 days a week, or 20 days a month, that means you are only speaking to 5 people a day, which is a very realistic goal to reach.
In reality working 2- 3 hours a day 4 – 5 days a week you can easily prospect 200 – 300 people per month.
It just depends on how fast you want to build your business.
To learn more about what goals you should be setting for your business go here:
Tip #4 – Focus on Activities Not Results
This was another game changer for me. When I first started working the cold market I would be so focused on the results that I would get discouraged.
The cold market requires a few extra skill sets that you have to learn. Any new skill takes time to get good at it, so you absolutely must go easy on yourself and give yourself time to learn that skill.
The key is to focus on the activities’.
Focus on reaching your goal of meeting a set number of people per day.
Focus on your goal of having a certain number of conversations daily with people with the intention of building relationships and rapport.
Focus on your goal of approaching a set number of people per day to see if they are open to looking at your opportunity.
Focus on these types of goals that you can control. Focus on reaching them and getting better at them and if you do the results will follow.
Do the business building, rain making activities’ and the results will follow. They always do!
Tip #5 – Burn Your Boats
This is probably the biggest differentiator between people who become a success in the MLM industry and people who don’t.
Burn the boats’ means you leave yourself no other options when it comes to becoming a success.
It is all or nothing. You are going all in. There is no retreat, there is no surrender. There is no plan B. You either make it to the top or you die trying.
There are numerous historical stories of commanders of armies who would land on their enemies shores and upon landing they would burn their boats‘. There was no way out but to win the battle. There was no turning back.
If you have not taken the time to truly understand the life changing opportunity network marketing is I encourage you to take the time to do so.
There simply is no other opportunity on the planet available to the average person to be able to create the life altering wealth that can be created here. It truly does not exist.
Yes there are other business models but they do not provide the same level of income or time freedom that a successful network marketing business does.
There is nothing out there that will allow a person with limited funds and time to invest to be able to work 2 hours a day and within 12 – 48 months completely revolutionize their lifestyle they way you can in MLM.
When you truly see the incredible opportunity you have in front of you with your business, you will burn your boats’ and never look back!
