Can You Really Get MLM Leads for Free?

I am going to cut right to the chase in this post and answer the question of whether it is even possible for you to get MLM leads for free; and if so are free leads even worth spending your time on?

If you are searching for some magical free leads list that you think someone is just giving away that is going to be jammed packed with top quality prospects that will be dying to join your business; well give your head a shake.

Of course such a list does not exist. Nobody is just going to hand you over a free list of top quality leads. Not going to happen!

Now there are companies that will charge you a fairly significant amount of money to buy leads but even then those leads are far from what I would call top quality prospects by any means.

Yes you can build a business buying and calling MLM & network marketing leads but it is a hard way to have to go about it. You can read more about whether you should buy network marketing leads here.

The only time I recommend buying leads is if you are doing so on top of using other business building methods and never instead of them. If you want to have a few extra people to prospect daily buying leads is an OK option.

However, your best option is to learn how to generate your own leads for free.

Leads you generate on your own are always the best quality and that is what we are going to look at today. The following are 6 strategies that I consider to be your best options for generating leads…

#1 – Warm Market

Without a doubt the very first place you need to focus on building your MLM business is your warm market; which is the people you already know. Friends and family.

These are the highest quality leads you will ever work. When you generate cold leads the biggest part of your job is going to be to develop some rapport with those people. You need to get them to know, like and trust you before they will do business with you.

With your warm market these people already know you and hopefully they like and trust you.

It is a huge mistake to skip this market. I know a lot of people want to skip it and go straight into working the cold market. Don’t do this and make sure your team does not either.

The vast majority of all successful MLM businesses have been created and maintained by having a very strong focus on building through the warm market.

Yes there is without a doubt a right way and wrong way to go about this. Before you start sharing your business opportunity with your friends and family you want to make sure you know how to go about it correctly.

#2 – Referrals

If you can master this skill you will literally never run out of leads for your business.

Every single time you approach someone to look at your MLM business and they say it is not for them, ask them for referrals.

Simply say you can appreciate that the opportunity is not for them, however would they mind giving you the name of a couple of people they think might be interested.

Everyone knows a few people who are interested in making money from home, and most people you speak with will do you the favor of giving you a couple of names.

The great thing about the names they give you is these leads are not cold leads, they are more like luke warm leads because they were referred to you. You and the lead have a person in common. You both know the same person, so there is a connection.

When you call the referral you say that you got their name from a mutual friend and this mutual friend thought they might be interested in what you are doing.

I can’t recommend this strategy enough to you, use it and get your team using it and it will become a great source of leads for your business.

#3 – Collect Business Cards

This is a simple little lead generation strategy you can implement while you are going about living your day to day life.

Most gas stations, coffee shops and some other businesses will have cork boards set up where they allow their customers to display their business card or flier.

The majority of these people are business owners and as a result are success oriented and make good prospects.

Do not take the card, instead take a picture of it or write their name and number down.

Call them up. Tell them you saw their business card, let them know you did not take it. Cut right to the chase with them.

Let them know you are in business yourself and looking to expand in the area and have an opportunity for them to take a look at if they are open to doing so.

You can easily find 10 – 20 leads on every cork board. Pretty solid source of high quality leads if you do it.

#4 – Cold Call Realtors

This is a great source of high quality leads. Realtors are movers and shakers. They have serious goals and know how to hustle. They also know a lot of people.

One motivated realtor is better than 10 of your typical leads.

There are all kinds of ways of finding contact information for realtors. Go for a 10-minute drive around your neighborhood and write down the name and phone numbers off of all of the realtor signs you will drive by.

Do a good search for realtors. Do a search on Linkedin or Facebook. Or use this site (LINK)

Now simply call these people up, do not beat around the bush, cut right to the chase and be up front with them.

“Hey Joe Realtor, I got your number from one of your signs. The reason I am calling is I own an internet business that I am looking to expand in the area. Realtors tend to do very well with this business and I thought I would reach out to you to see if you would be open to taking a look at it”?

Very simple and you will get people who are interested in looking at it and as a result you will sign new distributors.

#5 – Master Social Media Marketing

I can remember back when I first started building my MLM business. Starting out I had focused on my warm market and was able to build a 6 figure business doing so.

However eventually I ran out of warm market leads and was desperately trying to find ways of meeting new people to prospect for my business.

It just so happened that right around that time a platform called MySpace started gaining traction and becoming very popular. Some of you will remember MySpace. It was the go to social media platform before Facebook took over.

I could not believe it when I joined this platform. Here was a tool that I could log into from my computer and go out and meet, network and get to know thousands and thousands of new people.

I never looked back.

As soon as you are done working your warm market you need to transition to learning how to use social media to generate your network marketing leads for free.

I personally have not found a better method of doing so.

Now having said all of this, it is crucial that you learn how to use these platforms correctly. It is not just a matter of jumping on them and running around like a clown spamming everyone.

Unfortunately that is what the majority of networkers are doing and are failing miserably as a result.

You need to learn the right skills and strategies and if you do you will create an endless stream of high quality prospects to share your business with every day.

#6 – Internet Marketing

I will be very upfront and let you know from the get go that as great of a strategy this is, it is also a very tricky method of getting leads for your multi level marketing business.

It’s tricky because from the outside looking in it appears to be the easy way. And when something appears to be the easy way everyone wants to do it and they neglect the other crucial strategies we covered.

People think that internet marketing is simply a matter of slapping up a blog or doing some videos and boom you will have lots of business.

Unfortunately this is not the way it works. Internet Market is a great strategy for generating leads but it is a ton of work and it takes a lot of time to get results. (12 – 24 months)

It is something that if you are interested in doing that you must understand is something you do on top of the other methods and never in place of.

Spend the majority of your time prospecting and recruiting using the other methods I have shown you. Then with your remaining time start working on internet marketing strategies.

It’s Actually Called Attraction Marketing

The strategy is actually referred to as attraction marketing. The basics of it are you use tools such as blogs, videos, social media and paid ads to set yourself up as an expert in your chosen field or niche.

You become known as an expert by helping people solve their problems. By becoming a resource of quality problem solving information.

If you are in health and wellness you could become the weight loss expert. You would create content on a regular basis that would help people lose weight and get in shape.

Over time as you become known as a go to person for weight loss, you start to be looked upon as an expert and an authority on the subject. As a result when you recommend people buy your MLM companies weight loss products they do.

You can do the same thing but with a home based business expert focus. You could go to work setting yourself up as the go to person when it comes to knowing about home based businesses.

As you become known as this expert people will listen to you when you suggest your network marketing company is the best opportunity for them and as a result you will be able to recruit a large number of your followers.
