Alright my friend today we are going to look at 3 very powerful MLM Business Tips that if you not only learn them but apply them by putting them into action, in my opinion it will be near impossible for you not to achieve incredible levels of success with your business.
Success in MLM like anything else is found in our daily activities and being consistent with them.
There is no question that starting and stopping and then starting and stopping is the number one cause for people failing to reach their goals.
Which leads us into tip #1…
Force Yourself to Be Insanely Consistent
Many people fail and quit in our industry because they fail to be consistent in doing what is required daily to build their business.
Here is a ridiculous example but it definitely makes the point of how people act in this business…
Let’s say someone who had never made microwave popcorn before comes across an un popped bag of it. He decides this looks like it would be tasty let’s “give it a try”!
He takes the bag of popcorn and puts it in the microwave, turns the microwave on for 30 seconds and nothing happens so he thinks something must be wrong so he turns the power off.
He thinks to himself well maybe that was not long enough, clearly other people have made microwave popcorn this must work, so he decides to try it again.
He turns it back on and lets it go for 25 seconds but then his buddy calls him on the phone and he turns the power off to have a chat about nothing with his friend. And of course still no corn started popping.
After wasting time talking to his pal he decides he is still in the mood for some popcorn so he turns the microwave back on for another 30 seconds he hears a corn or two pop but at the very same time his favorite TV show Seinfeld comes on, he can’t miss Seinfeld come on, especially for popcorn.
He tells himself he will come back to making the popcorn later and he turns the microwave off and sits down to watch some TV.
During a commercial he realizes he is still hungry so he might as well try this microwave popcorn “thing” again, he tosses the bag back in and hits power.
He waits for 28.5 seconds still no full bag of popcorn, he gets frustrated that it is taking too long.
He turns the power off once again, takes the stupid bag out of the microwave and throws it away and tells himself this microwave popcorn thing must be a scam and simply doesn’t work.
Other people who popped a bag successfully must have gotten lucky or knew something he didn’t. He is done.
Not Far From The Truth
As goofy of an example that is, it is not far from the truth and in actuality it is pretty much exactly what happens to most people.
It is exactly how the majority of people who join a MLM business treat their business. They start, they get distracted, and they stop.
They decide they should probably give it another go, they get frustrated because they don’t see success immediately and they again stop doing what is required daily.
They come back to it two weeks later and give it another go only to allow life’s setbacks to get in the way and they stop again.
They hear of a person they know doing well at it so they decide they should try again, they work at it for a day or two but then the sun comes out, friends are having a BBQ, they decide they need a vacation, their favorite TV shows comes on, in other words “other” things become more important than doing the work, so they stop.
They finally throw their hands up in the air and say “this” doesn’t work, I am wasting my time, I quit; when in reality it was “them” that did not do the work consistently over a long enough period of time to get the results they originally desired.
Consistency is the Key!
Make no mistake this business will work for you and it will create a lifestyle unlike any other, but in order to achieve that level of success it absolutely takes daily consistent action whether or not you are in the mood or not.
Consistency is a constant daily battle everyone faces and whether or not you win that battle with yourself is going to be the reason you either become the next success story with your company or the next quitter.
Ouch I know. Harsh I know. But I want you to win. I want you to be successful.
I want you to achieve your goals and I know that in order for you to do so this is the number one thing you must master.
Do whatever it takes to make yourself do the required daily activities.
So what are the required daily activities?
Great question keep on a-reading as the next 2 tips are going to show you exactly what you need to do daily to crush it.
OD on PD
OD on PD is a phrase I heard at my first company convention. PD stands for personal development and OD stands for overdose.
Overdose on personal development.
I had never even heard the terms personal development until that convention even though I had been engaging in that practice for over a year and it was probably the number 1 reason I was becoming the success I was.
OD’ing on PD involves reading, listening and watching material that is positive, upbeat, motivational, inspirational, and educational.
Every single leader in the MLM industry engages in personal development. Success leaves clues and this is a big one.
In fact I would go so far as to say that if you do not do personal development daily you will have a very hard time achieving success.
- It is what keeps you on track when you don’t feel like it.
- It is what keeps you going when you feel like quitting.
- It is what gets you up early to work on your business and motivates you to stay up just a little bit later.
- It is what keeps you positive when someone says no to your business.
- It is what keeps you pushing on through the ups & downs we all will face in business.
How Personal Development Changed My Life
Years ago personal development changed my life in a major way. I had always wanted to go into business for myself but for some reason I could never seem to make it happen. I used one excuse after the other.
At the time I was working as a sales guy for an industrial cleaning company, they had flown me to their head office for some training. On the return flight I got stuck in the Toronto airport for 13 hours due to a snow storm.
While I was there I just happened to stroll into a book store and on the shelf I saw this book called “Think & Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.
The title grabbed my attention. I guess because I realized it was about time I started thinking and growing rich did not sound too bad either.
By the time I finally made it home from my trip I had read that book from cover to cover. I devoured it.
And the craziest thing happened, within 2 months I was in business!!
All my life I had wanted to get into business and it finally happened 2 months after getting into personal development. That my friend is called a clue!
I started a weight loss company where we would provide our clients with meal plans designed to help them achieve their desired weight and meet with them weekly for personal one on one consultations.
Within 12 months of starting that company I also got into the MLM industry and had wild success which you can read about here.
And I truly believe it was because of personal development. And Think & Grow Rich was just the start, after reading it I continued reading more and more books.
Make it a Daily Habit
Zig Ziglar once said that motivation is not permanent but neither is bathing, it is why we recommend it daily!
Personal development is now a part of my daily life…
I read at least 30 minutes of a personal development book daily, to include reading at least 10 minutes before I go to sleep at night
I listen to motivational videos on YouTube daily. And when I am in my car I am listening to either motivational podcasts or industry specific trainings.
I also subscribe to and learn from certain industry leaders. Even though I have seen success I am always learning from people who have achieved more than I have.
Trust me my friend this is a tip that you need to take very seriously. In fact if you are serious about becoming a success start your own OD routine today and make it a part of your daily life.
Before you do anything in the morning OD on PD!
Ok good stuff…
So we know we need to be consistent in doing what is required daily and we know we need to engage in PD daily to make sure we are consistent, but what business building activities should we be doing daily to actually build our business?
Read on as Tip #3 reveals exactly what you need to be doing daily to build a highly successful business in the next 6 – 18 months.
Recruit, Recruit, Recruit!
Success in this business is achieved by you recruiting some new reps and recruiting some more and some more and some more and then getting your team to do the same thing.
That is all there is to it.
And it is not a hard thing to accomplish once you learn the right strategies to use to accomplish this.
Recruiting is a very straight forward and predictable activity.
Once you learn how to get proficient at recruiting a ratio is going to emerge.
Your ratio could be when you prospect 10 people 3 of them join. Or perhaps it is 20 people and 4 join.
Everyone’s ratio is going to be different. But the point is it becomes predictable.
When that happens you are going to know how many people per day and per month you need to prospect in order to reach your goals.
And hitting those targets is easy my friend.
The Internet Has Made Prospecting Simple
The old way of prospecting people offline was difficult. However it was do-able and countless people did achieve success doing it but it was difficult.
Back then you would start out with the people you know (and you still should and you can learn how to do so here ), and after you had tapped that market, i.e. ran out of everyone you knew you would then have to find ways of meeting new people in your community, which could be time consuming and challenging.
However thanks to the internet and social media all of that has changed.
Finding prospects is a breeze…
There are people absolutely everywhere online. And prospecting and recruiting them is a simple straight forward process once you understand what it is we truly do in this business…
The Skill That Pays Big Dollars
People love to over complicate this business. When in reality it is the simplest business model on the planet.
All we do is get good at making friends and simply asking our friends if they are open to taking a look at an opportunity.
That is it!
So simple!
Develop the skill set of making friends and then simply ask those friends if they are open to taking a look at your business.
Some will be, some won’t be, either way it is ok. Just keep rinsing and repeating.
Meet new people. Become friends. Ask them if they are open to taking a look at an opportunity. That is it!!
The Internet Has Made This Simple to Do
Online and with social media it is a simple thing to meet new people.
Meeting 20 new people per day can be done in 1 -2 hours’ time. And you don’t even need to meet 20 new people per day. 3 new people daily is 1095 new friends per year!!
If 10% join your business that is over 109 new distributors.
If only 5% join that is over 54 new distributors.
If only 2% join that is over 21 new personally sponsored distributors.
If you and your team members each met 3 new people daily on social media and only ever sponsored 2% of them you are going to build a huge business my friend!
Are you getting this? I hope so because it is a game changing tip.
How to Recruit 5 – 10 People per Month
OK so there are 4 methods I recommend for prospecting.
2 of them are offline and 2 of them are online.

Robb, amazing post! I love the overall content and message here. I have noticed in my time while writing blogs, instagram posting and posting other social media content that consistency truly is the answer (even in other aspects of life this holds true, working out, learning a language, etc). How often for someone who writes blog posts would you recommend posting to the blog? I aim for 2 to 3 posts a week, but feel like that may not be enough! Thanks again for your insight!
Hey Vince, 2-3 posts a week is great man. It will take time to get traction but it will surprise you how quick it can actually happen. Anymore then 2-3 posts and I find people are just throwing up garbage just for the sake of getting a post done. 2-3 allows you to spend time producing good quality. I strive for 2-3 posts on this blog and sometimes it is even less. Cheers man.
Thank you so much for this informative article. Robb! As someone who has just recently entered the world of online business/affiliate marketing, I completely understand the idea of being persistent, being consistent, and recruiting. I’m currently spreading the word about my site through friends, family, classmates, teachers, neighbors, church members, and everyone in between! We must build a strong foundation in order to flourish. I have bookmarked your site, and will definitely share it with my friends and family. God bless you!
Congrats on your new business. Anything I can help you will feel free to ask. Cheers.
Robb,
This was a very inspiring article. My favorite part is about consistency! That is the name of the game I feel, if a person is to succeed in this industry. Too many people don’t set goals, and take the kaizen approach and realize that all the small things they are doing will lead to a successful business. Thank you for sharing and looking forward to the next article.
Consistency is what it takes no question. Most people start, stop, start, stop, over and over again before finally giving up. Whereas if they had of just kept moving forward from the start they would have seen great things happen. Thanks for dropping by.
I really like the example you used with the popcorn. It really brings an image to my head. Simple to the point I believe anyone could easily understand. I look forward to reading more of your work.
Cheers!
