If you are looking into how to start a network marketing business you are either looking for information on how to actually start your own company where you would distribute products using the multilevel marketing distribution model or you are a person who is interested in getting involved in a home based business opportunity in order to either make a little extra money or a whole lot of walk away residual income money.
This post and actually the blog in general is designed to help you with getting involved in a home based business and frankly crushing it. If you are a company looking to distribute their products using this model I can’t help you but do wish you a ton of success as this is a great industry and business model to use to market your products.
Alright so if you are still here that tells me that you are looking to get information on how to get going in your new business opportunity, and I can assure you that you have come to the right place.
This blog has loads of posts and trainings to help you literally crush it in your business. In this post I am going to share with you how to get started off on the right foot to make sure you set yourself up for success right out of the gates.
There are 5 steps you need to take…
Step #1 – Understand What You Really Have
Way too many people join this industry and really have no idea the opportunity they have in front of them.
Most people join because a friend or family member convinced them it was a great idea and they could all make boat loads of money with little or no work.
Many people join just to “try it out” and “see” if it will work.
It is the people who truly understand the incredible business opportunity they have in front of them and go to work building it like they would any other business that go on to create the large income checks.
And that is exactly what you need to do.
If you truly wish to create the 6 & 7 figure incomes that are very possible with Network Marketing you must treat it like a business.
If you just try it and see how it goes you will never make it.
If you treat it like a hobby it is going to pay you like a hobby would pay.
However if you treat it like a business. If you go to work learning the skill sets that are required to start and create success and then implement what you have learned on a daily basis (at least 2 hours a day) and you develop the never quit attitude then you will go on to accomplish incredible things in your business.
Step #2 – Understand How the Business is Built.
How you build your business is crucial to whether you will see long term success or whether you just become a flash in the pan. Meaning see a little success and then fizzle out.
People love to complicate what we do to create success in this biz.
It is important that you understand that network marketing is all about sharing and NOT selling.
Yes product is sold but how we go about selling the product is by sharing the opportunity and product via 3rd party tools and not by selling.
We do not have to learn and use fancy complicated sales scripts. In fact if you do it will be detrimental to your success.
3rd party tools are simply tools that provide all of the information about your opportunity and product.
These could be websites, opportunity calls, webinars, Facebook groups, 3 way calls with your upline or 3 way group chats with upline members.
Anything other than you!
The reason for this is twofold:
1) Tools Are Better Than You
The first reason is that the 3rd party tools will do a much better job of selling and telling then you will.
Most of us are not professional sales people and it takes years for anyone to become an expert sales person.
The 3rd party tools are designed by sales and marketing experts as well as experts in network marketing. Your sales and sign up ratios will be much higher if you use the tools created by the professionals.
2) What You Do Duplicates
The second reason is that in this business what you do duplicates.
This means that however you build your team everyone you are attempting to recruit will think that is how they must build their’s.
And again most people are not good at selling and the more important factor is the majority of people do not want to sell.
So if you are selling to your recruit they are thinking to themselves that they are going to have to learn how to do the exact same thing. And because most people do not want to sell many of your prospects will not join.
Whereas if you use 3rd party tools you are showing your prospect how simple it is to build successfully. They will see that all you did was send them a 3rd party tool to check out the opportunity or product and as a result your sponsoring rate will rise.
Write This Down
It is important you understand exactly what we do to build a successful down line, so write this down or take a screen shot of it and keep it somewhere that you will see it on a regular basis.
All we do is:
- Meet new people
- Make friends with them (develop rapport or a relationship)
- Ask them if they are “open” to looking at your opportunity.
- Provide the people who are open with a 3rd party tool that shares your opportunity or product with them.
- Follow up and collect a decision.
That my friend is it and that is all! It is a very simple model that works incredibly well if you keep it simple.
So now let’s look at how you go about meeting people…
Step #3 – Start with the People You Know
This industry has and always will be built creating an organization that’s foundational activity is sharing the opportunity and products with friends and family.
There are a whole host of reasons why it is crucial that this is the foundation of what you do:
1) It is a huge market to neglect. Everyone who joins your team will know at least 200 – 2000 people. It is a very bad decision to neglect this many people.
2) It is the easiest method of recruiting. Remember when we said all of the activities need to be duplicatable? There is nothing easier or more duplicatable then teaching people how to share their business with their friends and family.
3) It builds large organizations and pay checks. I created a 6 figure income within my first 8 months by focusing the majority of my time on my warm market.
4) It is your training grounds. It is where you learn the skills required to be successful. Consider it on job training that can pay very well. You learn all of the ins and outs of how to prospect and sponsor new distributors before moving to your cold market.

Step #4 – Meet People on Social Media
Places like Facebook are excellent spots to meet and get to know new people. Many network marketers have built massive organizations using only social media.
You could literally focus 1 – 2 hours a day using this strategy alone and you will see serious success.
The key to remember is be a normal human being. The majority of people who get on Facebook or other social media sites and try to build their business forget how to be human and instead turn into spam machines.
Most people trying to build on social media are doing it all wrong and are ruining their chances of success and harming the industry as a whole.
I am going to share some training’s with you to show you how to use social media the right way to build your team but the best tip I could give you would be to treat it like you are going to a party.
Behave as you would if you were invited out to a social gathering…
You would not walk into a party and start spamming everyone. You would be a normal human being. You would meet people. You would talk and laugh. You would share interesting stories and discuss topics people enjoy.
You would get to know people and develop rapport and a relationship.
Do the same thing on Facebook. Find groups you have interests in, join them and go and get to know the other people in the groups. Develop a relationship with them and when the time is right simply ask them if they are open to taking a look at your opportunity.
Rinse and repeat. Do this over and over again and great things will happen for you in your business.

Step #5 – Learn How to Market
It is incredible how this industry is called Network Marketing but 99% of the people involved have no clue how to actually market.
They focus exclusively on the networking side of things with no thoughts towards marketing.
There is no question you can build a substantial organization and residual income check by getting to know people and sharing your opportunity with them.
However the truly successful people in this industry include marketing into their plan of action.
Step 3 and 4 that we have just discussed are both active prospecting. You are actively going out and meeting people and actively prospecting them with the intention of getting a decision from them in the very near future.
Whereas marketing is more of a passive strategy. You put out pieces of content in the hopes that people will take action on them in the future.
The internet is the best way to do this…
You could create blog posts daily with the intent of people finding the post later on and taking action on it. As you create more blog posts they start to compound on themselves and over time you have a large amount of people taking action daily on your posts.
And of course the action you want them to take is to express interest in joining your opportunity or buying your product.
This is a long term strategy but one that if you are consistent with can create serious leverage in your business. It is not unheard of for people to have 10 – 15 leads contacting them every day wanting more information about their opportunity.
That my friend is what you call a game changer.
