Today I am diving into the topic of how to overcome rejection in Network Marketing. Rejection sucks. Nobody likes to be rejected by friends, family or even cold market prospects.
And even worse is that the fear of being rejected keeps a lot of people from even getting started and is the number 1 cause for people to quit the industry altogether.
Although there is no way to ever get rid of rejection completely in this industry there are things you can do to minimize the amount of rejection you get as well as its effects on you and your team.
In fact if you use these strategies I am about to share with you and duplicate them within your downline there is no question the amount of rejection you will get will drop drastically, the amount you get will not bother you and you are actually going to recruit far more people into your business.
Alright let’s get into it…
Get Your Head Right
The first step is to seriously get your head right. Understand the incredible life changing opportunity you have in front of you with your network marketing business. Really take the time to see what it has done for other people.
Get it into your head that success is possible for you. That living the life of your dreams is very do-able. That by putting 6 – 24 months of consistent effort and work into building your business everything in your world can change.
When you really get your head around what you have in front of you than having people say No to your business is not that big of a deal.
In the end what is rejection in this business?
They are not rejecting you as a person, they are rejecting the business opportunity. So what if it is not for them. Who cares? Your success is not contingent on any one person saying Yes to your business.
Thank them for letting you know it is not for them. Now you know. Now you don’t have to wonder if it is for them.
You don’t have to waste any more time on them. They have done you a favor and told you it is not something they interested in. Perfect, good to know, move onto the next.
I am very very serious about what I just said! You need to grasp that a “No” is not a bad thing. It just is what it is.
What We Do Really is Simple
You see network marketing is an EASY business my friend. What we to do to create success is simple. The activities you must do on a daily basis are not hard.
You are not in the selling business. You do not have to learn sales techniques, closing and objection handling. This is not what we do.
You are not in the convincing business. Do not waste your time trying to convince people to join your business. It does not work. If you have to convince them to join you will have to convince them to do the work daily. It’s a waste of your time.
We are in the sharing business!! That is what we do…
We ask people if they are open to looking at an opportunity and if they are open to looking we “share” our business presentation with them. If it is for them awesome. If it is not move on.
See when you get your head right what is this thing we call rejection anyway?
In my books it’s nothing. It doesn’t matter. It is simply what it is. It is part of the process. And in the end it is your prospect letting you know it is not for them. And that is more than OK. You did your job and found out.
Success in Network Marketing is a Numbers Game
This is a numbers game. You want to get good at working the numbers. You need to develop the skill of always having people to share your opportunity with. When you have unlimited people to share your business opportunity with than rejection becomes nothing.
People get worked up over rejection because they have the wrong mentality…
They are operating from a Lack mentality instead of a mentality of Abundance.
They look at prospects as being finite. They think they only have a limited amount of people to share their business with. They think it is hard to find prospects. They think their success hinges on this one person saying yes. It doesn’t!
Prospects are infinite. People are everywhere. Absolutely everywhere!
And now with social media and especially Facebook it has never been easier (using the right strategies) to have an unlimited number of prospects. It has never been easier to find people to share your opportunity with.
It is a very easy thing to be able to ask 20 people a day to look at your opportunity.
20 people a day!! If you do that your success is just a matter of time. It will absolutely happen.
Alright so once you have your head right, there absolutely are things you can do to increase the amount of people who will say “Yes” to your business.
The following are 2 of the biggest things…
The Magic of 3rd Party Tools
Remember I told you that we are not in the selling business we are in the sharing business?
This is a crucial concept to understand and apply.
One of the reasons you may be getting so much rejection is because you are trying to sell your prospect on your network marketing company.
When you are prospecting them you are going into full on sales mode. You are trying to sell them on the compensation plan, the benefits of the product, the timing of the opportunity etc.
And you may be the greatest sales person in the world. But the problem is that everything you are doing to recruit that prospect they are watching.
And not only are they watching and taking note of what you are doing, they are thinking to themselves If I join this thing I am going to have to do exactly what Robb just did.
And guess what?
The more you complicate the process the less likely they are going to want to join. If you are selling and trying to convince them they are saying to themselves “no way not happening I am not going to do what Robb just did”.
Nobody wants to sell. Nobody wants to try to convince their friends and family to join.
This is a huge reason why people experience so much rejection when prospecting. They are approaching their prospects wrong!
If you approach your prospects the right way you will definitely get more of them to say Yes.
If they see how easy the activities are that we do it will have a positive effect on them and you will get less rejection.
Use the Tools!
3rd party tools allow everyday normal people to be able to create above average results in this business.
A 3rd party tool is anything that removes you from the equation. It is a tool that presents the opportunity for you. It is a tool that does all of the selling and telling to your prospect so you don’t have to.
Examples would be:
- Website with video about the opportunity/product/compensation plan, etc.
- Webinar presentation
- Business presentation at a hotel
- Conference call
- 3 way call with up line (used to answer questions after having seen presentation)
- Group chat with 2 – 3 up line members and prospect (used same way as 3 way call)
- Facebook Group or Page
All you do is simply contact your prospect and ask them if they are open to looking at a side project/opportunity.
If they are you send them to one of these 3rd
party tools and you find out when they will have looked at it and follow up at that time.
If they need more information or have questions about what they just looked at you point them to another 3rd party tool.
That is it my friend. Very very simple what we do. Do not complicate it.
Trust me your prospect is watching. They are thinking to themselves can I do what Robb just did. Do I have the time? Do I have to learn a bunch of stuff? Do I have to sell to friends and family? And they don’t want to have to do any of that stuff.
Plus the reality is the 3rd party tools will do a whole lot better job at presenting the opportunity than you will. No offense lol.
Implement this strategy and you will recruit more and experience a whole lot less rejection guaranteed.
So now you know how to approach your prospects the right way. The next part of the equation is learning how to actually prospect the right way. How to find the right people to target.
Targeting the right people will significantly improve your results.

How to Prospect for Maxim Results
There is no question that the first thing you want to do is go to your warm market. There are a whole hosts of reasons why it is important that you do so. I am not going to cover them in this post. You can check out why doing so is important here!
After you have blasted through your warm market it is time to get into cold market prospecting.
As I said above there are 2 methods that I recommend you use to do so and they both involve building influence.
Influence may be the one real secret in network marketing…
It is the reason why some people join your company and shoot right to the top. It is why some people seem to have immediate success in their business while others struggle.
You see prior to joining your company these people had created influence over a large group of people through something they did.
Perhaps they are entrepreneurs and are respected as knowing about business. Perhaps they are community leaders who people admire. There are a whole hosts of ways people build influence.
And what happens is because these people have a large group of people who know, like and trust them; when they ask them to look at their business opportunity they not only look at it but they take it very seriously and as a result a large percentage of them join.
Their prospects are thinking “If so & so; is recommending this thing then it must be good”!
Influence is a powerful advantage and a serious game changer.
In the old days before the popularity of the internet and social media creating influence was not an easy feat to accomplish.
But nowadays using the internet and social media it is a very straight forward and easily accomplished strategy to implement.
And a strategy that you should definitely be using. If you truly want to learn how to overcome rejection in network marketing building influence is what you want to focus on.
The 2 Best Ways to Build Influence Fast
There are two ways to go about doing this on Facebook. You can either use your personal profile or a business profile.
Your personal profile is the more duplicatable method and one that I recommend you and your whole team use. You should spend at least 70% of your time using this strategy. It will blow your mind how simple and effective it is.

Using a business profile is not as duplicatable but it is a game changer once you get up and running with it. It is the method that all of the top leaders in network marketing are using. It is definitely for people who want to be industry leaders. It uses the power of the internet to literally attract prospects to you.
Yup your prospects will seek you out and ask you about your business or product. Pretty cool thing to have happen and talk about overcoming rejection.
