I can remember like it was yesterday running out of my warm market and then desperately running around trying to figure out how to get leads for my network marketing business. Trying to figure this out on my own was a challenge to say the least.
Now I had actually done very well with my warm market and created a 6 figure income. But just like what happens to everyone; I eventually ran out of people that I knew to share my business opportunity with.
I understood very well that in order to maintain and grow the income I had created I had to find more leads fast or I would be out of business.
Leads are the Foundation of Your MLM Business.
It is important that you understand that your job as a networker is to always be prospecting.
Whether your goal is to prospect 2 people a day or 20 people a day you must always have leads going through your funnel.
Trust me I know first hand how difficult it can be to build your business when you do not know how to generate MLM leads.
So to help you out and help you avoid the mistakes I made I am going to provide you with 6 strategies for how to get leads for network marketing. Some will be offline and some online.
When you use these strategies together you will never run out of people to share your business with ever again.
Let’s get into it…
1. Do NOT Skip Your Warm Market
I cannot stress this enough. The warm market needs to be the foundation or your MLM business.
Success in this business is created by getting a large group of people to perform simple activities on a regular basis.
And there is simply nothing easier than going to your warm market.
It does not even matter if you have any success at all with them. That is NOT the point.
There are 4 main reasons to go to your warm market:
1. To get practice! You use your warm market to get use to and good at your company or teams prospecting process. You are going to mess it up at first and it is more than ok to do so with friends and family, they will be a lot more forgiving then strangers.
2. You might enroll a ton of people from your warm market and create serious growth, or you might enroll 1 or 2 go getters who go and enroll a ton of people from their warm market and create serious growth.
3. Most network marketers are able to enroll 2 people from their warm market. That surprisingly creates significant growth as your team grows. It is stupid to build an organization that misses out on that easy growth.
4. Every dud knows a stud! You never know who is going to blow up their warm market. If you don’t go to your warm market no one on your team is going to go to theirs. And this will mean you could miss out on a big player joining your business. Guaranteed there are going to be people in your downline who go onto to enroll monsters from their warm market.
Bottom line it is a huge mistake to miss out on your warm market. It is a great source of leads for your network marketing business when you are first starting out.

2. Realtors Are Excellent Leads
Realtors make very good prospects for your network marketing business. They are hard workers and they are financially driven.
Also many real estate companies have a multi-level component to their compensation plan so realtors are already familiar with how it works and are open to it.
Finding realtors is simple.
Locally you can simply pick up the phone book and look for realtors under the yellow pages. Simply give them a call and say something along the lines of:
“Hey So & SO; we don’t know each other, but I am looking to expand my business and I do a lot of work with realtors, I am giving you a shout to see if you are open to looking at an opportunity if it did not interfere with what you are doing with your real estate business, if you’re open I can get you some information, if not no problem”.
You can also go online and search for realtors. There are websites that list realtors across the country and include their email and phone numbers in the listings.
Social media sites like LinkedIn and Facebook at also great places to find realtors.
3. Collect Business Cards
Business people leave their business cards all over the place. Many restaurants, coffee shops and gas stations will have bulletin boards were business people tack their business cards.
Every one of these people are in business and clearly open to income producing opportunities.
You can either take the business card or keep a pad and pen with you and write the person’s name and number on the pad.
Call them and approach them the same way as I explained you would do with the realtor leads.
Tell them where you came across their information and if you wrote their information down you can even let them know that, this way they do not think they wasted a business card.
4. Trade Shows
Trade shows are a great way to get leads for network marketing.
You can go about it a couple of ways:
- You can put a booth into the trade show and have a draw for a free month of your product where people write their name, number and email on the ticket.
Then a day or two later call all the people who filled out a ticket whether they won the draw or not
- You can walk around the trade show going from booth to booth talking to the people manning the booth and collecting their business cards.
Then a day or two later call them all the same way you would the realtors. People who put booths into tradeshows are typically self-employed entrepreneurs and open to business opportunities.
5. Generate MLM Leads on Social Media
This is one of my favorite lead generation methods and where I recommend you spend a lot of your time.
The internet has made finding leads for network marketing an easy process. There are groups and pages where people hang out on social media.
Pick a target market. A group of people you would like to target to recruit into your downline. Then go out and find groups where these target markets hang out in. Join 3 -5 of the groups.
Now go into the groups and provide value. Post educational and entertaining things. Comment and like on other peoples posts. Develop relationships, interact and be normal.
Do not go in there and spam your company links. Do not talk about your company. Just be normal.
Over time as you start to provide value and get known you can start reaching out to the people in the group via a private message. Approach them the exact same way as I taught you how to approach the realtors.
This is a very powerful and straight forward way to easily get 10 – 20 new MLM leads every day.

6. Attraction Marketing is a Game Changer
And last but not least is attraction marketing. Basically this is what we call internet marketing in the network marketing industry.
There is a similarity between it and the generating leads on social media that we just looked at.
You will pick a target market and then provide content based around what they would find helpful, informative and entertaining.
The difference is this method is passive. You are putting out a piece of content onto the internet in the hopes that someone later on down the road will come across it and reach out to you wanting more information about your network marketing business. Basically becoming a lead.
The content could be in the form of a blog post, a YouTube Video, a Facebook live, a Tweet, An Instagram post, etc.
I will warn you that there is a learning curve to this strategy of lead generation, and it does take some time to get some traction with it. But when you do get traction and things really start to move it is a game changer.
When I started researching how to get leads for my network marketing business and came across attraction marketing I got very excited.
You can easily create systems that will have you getting 10 – 15 leaders per day contacting you asking about your network marketing business.
My advice is to focus 70% of your time on the other lead generation methods I discussed as they can produce leads for you instantly and your team will be able to use those methods as well. Then spend 30% of your time building your attraction marketing system.

These are excellent tips! I think that they can also apply to other types of online business, instead of MLM. The social media tip is great, and true! Act like you’re going to a party. I engage with others on social media but I also post promotional content sometimes, I do my best to keep a balance between both. There are days when I post more promotional content and days that I engage more, but I do my best to keep it equal.
Can business cards also work for someone who is in affiliate marketing, for example, cards with our websites and social media handles on them?
No question you can and should do promotional posts on social media. I believe in the Jab Jab Jab Right Hook strategy Gary Vaynerchuck teaches. The jabs are you giving qulaity information away, being entertaining, being yourself and having fun on social media. Where as the Hook is your promotional post. The more you jab the more your social media connections will give you permission to land a hook. Typically 70 – 90% jabs verses 10 – 30% hooks is a good ratio. With Network Marketing you never want to say the name of your company, or post a link to your opportunity however. You want to provide those things to your prospects directly during conversations. You want them to come to you to get that information instead of running to google to find it themselves, you need to control the flow of information. You accomplish this by doing curiosity posts. I used to be involved in Network marketing and I failed because it was so hard to find a way to get leads.
However your tips are so powerful. I wish you were my mentor when I did it. I probably would be doing well by now.
I never knew about realtors and Trade shows.
I did the business cards but I used to just get rejected. Ha ha I guess it was my confidence level.
The thing to remember when getting leads like business cards are that they are cold. As a result your success rate is going to be much lower with them. So work them with the right mentality. When you do find a business person to join however they are going to be more valuable then most leads because they understand what is involved to become successful in business and they typically have a very good network.
