There is no question that success in network marketing is a numbers game. However, there are things you can do to work the numbers in your favor and learning how to get a yes in network marketing is one of them.
Now I do want to set realistic expectations for you. No matter how good you get at prospecting and recruiting you will always always always get a lot more No’s then you ever will Yes’s.
That is just the way it is and part of the deal. If anyone is telling you anything different they are full of BS.
When it comes to prospecting you need to develop thick skin. You need to let the No’s bounce off of you. You need to get attached to the process of prospecting and not the results.
You actually want to embrace the No’s. Come to love them if you can. Get it in your head to go for no. Set your goal daily for how many no’s you will get before you stop for the day.
20 No’s a day and you are going to build a huge downline. Why because the old adage that every no brings you closer to a yes is gospel. It is the truth!
If your head is not right about this then you are toast before you even get started.
There are other business models out there that you will not experience the same type of rejection you do in networking marketing, business models such as Affiliate Marketing.
I love affiliate marketing but not as much as I love network marketing, it is a great model but does not have the same type of income potential as network marketing and requires a whole set of other skill sets.
To me network marketing is the greatest opportunity on the planet for everyday people like you and I to create the life style of our dreams.
But it will not happen overnight, and there will be frustrations and getting a ton of No’s from your prospects is one of them.
Now as I said there are things you can do to get better at getting a Yes from your prospect and in this post I am going to share with you my top 2 strategies for making this happen for you.
Alright let’s take a look at the first…
How to Get a Yes Strategy #1 – Prospect the Right Target Market
Too many network marketers are going after the wrong target market. In fact most people do not even have a target market. They are prospecting anyone with a pulse.
This is a complete waste of time and one of the reasons so many people become frustrated and quit. They approach prospecting as if they are throwing mud up against the wall and seeing how much will stick.
You want to get very clear on who your target market is. Who do you want to recruit into your business? You need to consider what type of person would be more open to looking at your opportunity and what type of person who would do well with your business?
Some great target markets are:
Network Marketers – they are probably the best target market because they already know network marketing is a great industry. You do not have to convince them of the incredible opportunity that it is.
Now I am not saying or encouraging you to go out and poach people from other network marketing companies. I am referring to people who have been in the industry before and are looking to get back in. Or networkers who are actively looking for a change.
Entrepreneurs or Small Business Owners – Entrepreneurs are open-minded people. They do not have the same silly mindset as people who think it is a scam. They know an opportunity when they see one.
And they are movers and shakers. They are drivers. They are people who get out there and make things happen. An entrepreneur is not afraid of hard work or rejection, they are used to it. They can really explode your downline for you. And in most cases they will be very open to taking a look at your opportunity.
Realtors – A real estate agent is similar to an entrepreneur. They are hard workers. They are driven by financial gain.
Many real estate companies are actually structured very much like a network marketing company where in they have multi levels so realtors in many cases are familiar with our business model and see the potential in it.
Home Based Business Opportunity Seekers – People who are actively looking for an opportunity. There are whole communities on social media like Facebook devoted to people looking for an opportunity.
They are not quite as good a prospect as the last 3 groups I have given you as they are targeted all the time by every opportunity under the sun. So they are a little punch drunk with opportunities.
But if you can build rapport with these people and they come to know, like and trust you they make a good prospect.
Bloggers – Bloggers are another great target market as the majority of them are blogging to make money. So they are open to side hustles and opportunities to add an additional income stream to their business.
Again Facebook has lots of communities filled with bloggers and want to be bloggers.
People who Love Personal Development – This is a really great group of people to target. People who follow personal development and motivational leaders like Tony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki, Les Brown, etc.
They people are upbeat, positive, and motivated people. Typically they are open to a conversation and in many cases open to money making opportunities.
How to Get a Yes Strategy #2 – Create Influence over People
One of the surefire ways of getting more prospects to say yes is to prospect people who you hold influence over.
Having influence is a game changer in network marketing.
Have you have ever seen someone join your company, watched them go onto to create a large organization and pay check right out of the gates and wondered how they were able to do it?
The answer is simple, it is because they had already created influence over a large group of people somewhere somehow in their life prior to joining your company.
This means that they had created the know, like & trust factor with this group of people. And these people looked up to them. When they asked them to look at a business opportunity these people took them very seriously and a large percentage of them joined.
Now in the old days before social media it was difficult to create influence over people, it took time and it was limited.
Difficult because you had to have accomplished something for people to look up to you and Limited from the stand point that you could only create influence over a finite number of people. Depending on the size of your city/town and how you created the influence.
For example a pastor/preacher would have influence over his congregation. Depending on the size of the church it could be 50 people or 300 etc. But that number was the limit of his potential influence.
A community leader might have created influence in their community, but again it would be limited based on the size of the community, etc.
But nowadays because of Social Media and particularly Facebook anyone can and quite easily create influence and the influence you can create is infinite. Meaning there is no limit to the number of people you can create influence over.
Sound good? I thought so.
OK then let’s take a look at how you can create this powerful thing called Influence.
2 Ways to Create Influence and Recruit Like a Top Earner
When it comes to using the recruiting strategy of building influence to get more people saying yes to your opportunity on social media there are 2 ways I recommend you do it.
Both of these strategies use Facebook. The first one uses your personal profile and the second uses a business page.
I recommend using both methods. However, there are a few things to understand with each method…
Build Influence Strategy #1
The first method which uses your personal profile is what I call a Passive Prospecting Strategy.
It works very well, and is very duplicatable and everyone on your team will be able to do it. Once you have finished prospecting to your warm market I recommend that you immediately implement this method and get your team doing the same.
It involves setting up your profile correctly to attract your perfect prospect. Determining who your target market or perfect prospect is. Figuring out which Facebook groups they hang out in. Going into those groups and providing value.
Having those people start getting to know, like and trust you and then migrating over to your personal page where you continue to develop that influence and eventually these people will become prospects and actually start reaching out to you wanting to know more about your business or product.
That is a high elevated overview of how it works. I train a lot on this method and you will find many trainings on this blog that provide you with the exact steps you need to take to implement this strategy and start getting some great results.
Spend 70 – 80% of the time you have allotted to prospecting on this strategy.
Here are a few trainings where you can learn more about this method here:
Build Influence Strategy #2
The second method uses more of an Internet Marketing Strategy.
It puts the actual marketing back into network marketing. You may have heard tell of it being referred to as Attraction Marketing. It is called this because it literally attracts your prospects to you.
Now there is no question that it takes longer to get results, but once you start to get the results they are a complete game changer. It is like you’re prospecting is put on Automatic mode because prospects will come to you.
However, there is a steep learning curve associated with it and it takes time so it is not as duplicatable and not many people in your downline will want to do it or will be able to do it, so it is definitely reserved for the leaders on your team and those people who want to take their business to very high levels.
I recommend if you use this strategy that you allot no more then 30% of your time towards it.
