There is no question that Facebook is a game changer for network marketers. Learning how to do network marketing on Facebook in my opinion is crucial to your success.
I say this because our society has changed over the past 10 years or so. Social media is where people spend their time. It is where they communicate and whether you believe it is sad or not it is where most people live most of their lives.
When it comes to social media Facebook is the big poppa of them all.
I really would not be able to tell you how to build a network marketing business these days not using the internet, social media and especially Facebook.
This is coming from a guy who originally created a 6 figure income offline with my warm market. I eventually moved online and I highly recommend you do also.
And since you are reading this post you obviously get what I am saying, so enough of that rant, lets get you rolling with some Facebook network marketing strategies.
The following are the 3 Strategies I am going to share with you today:
- The Direct Approach
- The Passive Approach
- Attraction Marketing
All 3 of them are powerful and work very well. I actually recommend that you include all 3 in your business building plan. Combined they are a very powerful plan of action.
Strategy #1 – The Direct Approach
OK with this approach you are getting into serious action. It is a burn and turn recruiting method.
Meaning you are going to bang through a ton of leads and work the numbers. The more people you approach the more people are going to join.
Yes no question you are going to get a lot more No’s than you do Yes’s. And that is OK and actually your goal believe it or not is going to be to get a preset number of No’s daily before you stop for the day.
Yup you want to decide how many No’s you are going to get each day and you will not stop until you do.
Why are we focusing on No’s you might ask? The simple reason is because the more No’s you get the more Yes’s you are going to get!
As Jim Rohn say’s “It’s Just the Way It Is”.
As you start to work this one Facebook recruiting strategy a ratio is going to develop. You will eventually be able to know exactly how many No’s it takes to get a Yes. And that is when things get fun for you.
You do have to have thick skin to use this strategy, but success in Network Marketing does take having thick skin. And learning how to build on Facebook is no different. You can’t worry about what people say or think. If they are not paying your bills who cares is my motto.
Alright let’s get into how you do this.
Who Are You Going to Target?
Contrary to what most network marketing trainers will tell you. Everyone is NOT your prospect and especially not on Facebook.
You need to decide exactly who the people are you want to recruit into your business. What do they do for a living, what are their interests, where do they hang out on Facebook?
This is 100% up to you.
My advice is twofold:
- Go after people who are movers and shakers. Self-motivated people. People who will do well building a network marketing business.
- Go after people who you share things in common with. This will make it easier for them to relate to you and you to them.
Do you like personal development and motivational books? If so people who like the same could be your target market.
Are you in real estate? Do you know a lot about selling homes? If so realtors could be your target market.
Are you a small business owner? If so other small business owners may be your target market.
Pick 2 – 3 closely related target markets. Example for me I love personal development, small business and entrepreneurship. So those 3 could be my target market for this strategy.
Alright it is time to make yourself look presentable. 🙂
Give your Facebook profile a good going over. Make sure when your prospect comes and looks at it (and they will) that it gives them the right impression.
You want to look professional, interesting, approachable, fun, happy, successful, motivated, etc.
You need to make sure your profile picture is a head shot of you. Look your best and smile. No cats, dogs, beer pictures, memes, jokes, quotes… Just You!
Change your cover photo to you enjoying life. It can be with friends and family. A picture of you out doing something fun works well. Hiking, boating, skiing, out to dinner, on a beach, you get the idea.
Get rid of the nonsense on your profile, no vulgar jokes, no political talk, nothing that would be conceived as being controversial, get rid of the pictures of you chugging beer, etc.!
And this is a big one when doing network marketing on Facebook as much as you might love your company, the opportunity and the product do NOT mention them anywhere on your profile. Do not put links to them anywhere on your profile.
You want your prospect to have to speak with you to find out what it is you do. You do not want them to figure it out on their own. This is very important my friend.
What you want to do is go and find 3 – 5 Facebook groups where your prospects hang out.
Go in and start watching to see who the sharp people are in the groups. Who are the active people. See who is commenting and posting.
Click on their profile and go have a look at it. What kind of people are they? Do they look like someone you would want to work with? Are they upbeat and positive?
If so you have found a prospect. Finding a prospect really is as easy as that.
How to Approach Your Prospect
Alright you have located a person to prospect, now what?
You than send them a private message in messenger, something like the following:
“Hey So & So, I saw your comment/post in such & such group, I enjoyed it (agreed with it/thought it was funny/could not agree more with what you said), I noticed you live in Houston, I am actually looking to expand my business in Houston and wanted to reach out to you to see if you would be open to taking a look at it, I thought it might be something you would be interested in. If not no worries. Talk Soon Robb.”
Phrase that differently, make it your own and do not send the exact same message out every time, mix it up or you will get into trouble with Facebook.
After you have sent that message, go back into the group, like their comment or post and than comment on it, let them know you sent them a private message.
Again this is a serious numbers game. If you set a goal for how many of these you will do a day and stick to it you will get people open to looking at your network marketing opportunity.
If they say they are not interested, thank them for their time and move on.
If they say they are interested than proceed to share your opportunity with them the same way you would any prospect.
If they ask what is it? Say something like: “I want to be respectful of your time, it would take much too long to explain it in messenger, I can send you some information to look at if you are open to taking a look”.
This is not rocket science, but it does take having that thick skin. You will get some nasty replies and you just need to ignore them and push on. Who cares what people I don’t know think about how I build my business is how I roll.
Alright let’s get into the Passive Approach…
Strategy #2 – The Passive Approach
This is a very powerful method of doing network marketing on Facebook. It takes a little more time and effort to get going than the direct approach but you will notice that you do not have to go through as many No’s with this strategy before you get a Yes.
I recommend doing this method in conjunction with the Direct Approach. You will also find that some of your prospects from the direct approach move over to being prospects of your Passive Approach, so they do work well hand in hand.
The big difference with this strategy is that you are creating influence. And creating influence is a Big Deal!
You see people with influence are the people you see in your network marketing company who join and than proceed to fly through the ranks and start crushing the leadership boards right away.
The reason for this is they have influence over people. Somehow in their life before network marketing they created influence with people.
Doctors, Business People, Coaches, Preachers, Network Marketing Leaders, Entrepreneurs, Bloggers, etc.
They all have influence over people, they have a tribe. And when they ask their tribe to take a look at an opportunity they do.
You can read more about this here:
Now the cool thing is that with a little bit of effort on Facebook you can become one of those people. You can create influence over people. You can become a person who others look up to, admire and listen to.
That is what we are going to accomplish with this Passive Strategy.
Some of what we covered in the direct approach works here as well:
- You will want to set your profile up just like we talked about in the direct approach.
- You will also want to pick a target market. You can pick the same target markets or go with different ones. Up to you.
How to Prospect with the Passive Approach
Alright what you are going to do with this strategy is the similar to the direct approach strategy.
First figure out what Facebook groups your target market hangs out it.
Now you will go into those groups and start providing VALUE!
Start providing, tips, trainings, information, education on the topic of the groups.
Start commenting on other peoples posts. Start liking their posts. Start answering their questions.
What happens is people start to notice you. They start to see you as a person of value. You start to create influence.
And they start to follow you and you will start to get friend requests.
Which takes us back to your personal profile.
Your Daily Method of Operation on Your Personal Profile
Just like with the direct approach you do not talk about your network marketing company or products.
Instead, you continue to provide value on the same topics you have been in the groups.
On top of the value you will also start to sprinkle in lifestyle posts. Posts about you so that people get to know you. Posts of you out living life, having fun hanging out with your friends and family, doing cool stuff.
If you are doing 10 posts in a week, 6 of them should be value, 3 of them should be lifestyle.
And the last post can now be about your business or product!
BUT… not a direct pitch. Not a spam filled pitch.
Do not post a link to join you. Do not say stuff like: “I am looking for 3 -5 more people to lose 10 lbs. or make $1000 this month”. That is spam and it does not work.
Instead, you will want to make a curiosity post.
What the Heck is a Curiosity Post?
A curiosity post is where you post about your network marketing opportunity or product without naming what it is. You create curiosity around it by not mentioning it directly.
This drives people crazy, their need to know makes them reach out to you.
An example of a curiosity post about a weight loss product could be:
“Wish me luck my friends, I’ve really decided to do it this time, its time to lose those extra 15lbs. Yup I am starting a new weight loss program. My friend lost 10lbs on it and I am going for it.”
Now you could post a picture of you taking the shake or whatever your weight loss product is, but do not show the name of the product. It creates curiosity and people will want to know what it is, and they will ask you.
You can do the same thing with your business opportunity:
“Wish me luck, I’ve decided to start an internet business. Pretty excited to get going. I have a buddy who is making an extra $1000 a month with it and having a blast. Here we go…”
Then future curiosity posts could be updates on how either of those are going. Post your results, posts photos of you at events, post stories of how other people are doing, etc.
So How do You Enroll People?
OK lets take a quick look at how you actually make money using this strategy.
People are going to message you asking what it is you are doing. Ask them if they are open to taking a look and if they are walk them through presenting your network marketing opportunity like you would any other prospect.
You can also reach out to people. On a daily basis go into the feed on your Facebook wall and like and comment on other peoples stuff.
As you start to develop a relationship and rapport with people you can message them. Just be normal, be a human, mention something about a post or comment they made and than just say something like:
“Hey So & So, I’ve been meaning to send you a message, I’ve enjoyed getting to know you. Listen I noticed you are in Albany, I am actually looking to expand my side business into Albany. I thought it might be something you would find interesting and thought I would reach out to you and see if you are open to taking a look at it, if not no problem, all good, let me know. Robb”
Very similar to the direct approach. Keep it simple, do not be salesy and just see if they are open to looking.
If so great, if not keep developing the relationship and rapport on Facebook and eventually when their situation changes and they see you still being consistent they will take a look.
Here is a link to a post I did on scripts you can use for both the direct and passive strategy:
OK let’s take a quick look at the last strategy I used to do network marketing on Facebook.
Strategy #3 – Attraction Marketing
I love attraction marketing. It is one of the best and most powerful methods available to us to build a very profitable business.
It is a Big Time game changer.
It is a definitely strategy that you should be implementing and working on.
But it does take time and it does have a learning curve associated with it.
My advice is to start using this method BUT do not spend any more than 30% of the time you have allotted to build your business on it daily.
With Attraction Marketing you use the power of the internet, to include Facebook to attract prospects to you.
Yes you will have people contacting you wanting to know about your business, wanting to know what it is you do and wanting to join your team.
Talk about a game changer when you have prospects coming to you.
Once it is up and running like this for you, you never need to chase people again. They come to you.
How crazy is that? Can you imagine waking up to 5 emails from people asking you to contact them about your business opportunity? Actually wanting to talk to you about your opportunity??
I know it is hard to believe, but is very possible for you once you learn how to do it and than get to work making it happen.
This blog post is already getting to long for my liking so I am not going to get into the details of how it works, but if this methods sounds interesting to you, you can check out how it works here on this post:
