In this post we are going to discuss how to close a deal in network marketing. How to go from presenting your opportunity to your prospect to getting them to say yes to joining your team.
Now before I get into this technique I will preface it by saying that your job is not to convince people to join your business. We are not in a sales business. We truly are in a sharing business.
What we do is ask people if they are open to taking a look at our opportunity and if they are we continue to share information with them until they have seen and heard enough to be able to make a decision as to whether the network marketing opportunity is for them or not.
So we need to be careful when it comes to learning sales techniques such as closing the deal.
People Do Not Like to Sell
We do not want our prospect or our team to think they have to get good at selling and learning complicated sales techniques, because if they think this your business is not going to grow.
This is because most people do not want to sell. Selling is uncomfortable for most and they simply will not do it.
The majority of sales techniques do not duplicate and have no place in network marketing.
But asking if someone is open to taking a look at your opportunity and simply sharing websites and Facebook groups with them that do the selling and telling for you is something people are comfortable doing and definitely duplicates.
This is why I only ever recommend the following method to close a deal… it is simple, it works incredibly very well and is not uncomfortable in the slightest.
So right after someone has checked out your opportunity, whether that is a website, a Facebook group, a webinar or a home or hotel meeting, etc.; simply do the following 2 steps…
Step #1: What Did You Like Best?
Let’s say your prospect says they will watch the video presentation at 6pm Tuesday night, you set a follow up call for 6:30pm.
When you call them up, confirm with them that they watched it and if they say no they have not had a chance to yet just get confirmation on when they will be able to and set another follow up time.
If they confirm that they have checked it out, say: “Perfect, it’s pretty cool right? What did you like best?”
You can mix up the first part of that to whatever is comfortable to you. Right on, Perfect, Awesome, etc.
But the next part is crucial. You must ask them “what did you like best?”
Do not ask them what they thought of it or whether they liked it as this will lead to all sorts of answers and conversations you do not want to waste your time with.
You want to lead the conversation in the right direction which is to close the deal and get them signed up into your network marketing business.
So let them share with you what they liked about it. Don’t interrupt them, just let them talk about the thing that really got their attention.
What If They Say Nothing or It’s Not for Them?
If they come back and answer they did not like anything and it is not for them, perfect!
Now you know.
Remember your job is to simply see if someone is open to looking at the opportunity and then providing them with enough information for them to make a decision as to whether it is for them or not.
So if they tell you no it is not for them, great you have done your job and they are not wasting your time.
If someone is going to say no to my network marketing business I would prefer they do so right away so I am not wasting my time. A quick no is a good thing.
But if they start to tell you what they like about it that leads you to step 2…
How to Close a Deal in Network Marketing – Step 2:
So again let them tell you what they liked about it.
When they have finished you say: “Awesome, it sounds to me like you are ready to get started”.
And then you say nothing.
I promise you that the ensuing silence is going to be awkward, it is going to be incredibly uncomfortable for you and them.
You are going to want to break the silence by trying to convince them to join. Resist the urge and say nothing!
It will take them a few seconds to make a decision in their head if they are ready to get started or not.
It is crucial that you let them have the time.
Say nothing no matter how long it takes for them to reply. Do not be the one who breaks the awkward silence…
1 of 3 Things Will Happen
So there are 3 possible outcomes.
Outcome #1 – Your prospect will tell you that it is not for them. We already discussed this, do not try to convince them that it is, simply thank them and move on.
I would suggest following up in 3 – 6 months to see if they are open at that time.
Things change in people’s lives and just because the opportunity is not for them today does not mean that it will not be for them in 6 months.
The only time I stop following up with someone is if they tell me to never talk to them again about my network marketing business.

Outcome #2 – They need more information or have questions.
Fight the urge to try and convince them to join. Fight the urge to try and share the information with them over the phone or answer their questions. Simply point them to a new tool to get their questions answered or provide them with more information.
One of the keys to your success when prospecting and being able to close the deal is using 3rd party tools.
You have to take yourself out of the equation. You have to let the tools do all of the selling and question answering for you.

Simply provide them with a 3rd party tool to answer their question. Again that could be a website, a Facebook group, a webinar or even better at this point a 3 way call or group chat with your up line.
Then set a time to follow up with them. And then guess what?
Yup you got it; when you follow up with them you run them through the same process all over again…
What did you like about it? Perfect, sounds like you are ready to get started!
You keep doing this until they say yes or no.
Outcome #3 – They say yes
And of course the best outcome is you actually close the deal and they reply that yes they are ready to get started.
Sign them up immediately and get them started on learning how to build the business for themselves.
Use This Strategy Every Time
And there you have it my friend, now you know exactly how to close a deal in network marketing.
This strategy works very well. Use it every time you are following up with a prospect and you will increase your closing rate guaranteed.
