Today I am going to give you 7 tips on How to Be Successful in MLM. First off let me give you a big congratulations for researching this topic and I truly mean that. I am excited for you.
If you are serious about building a Multi-Level Marketing business, learning what it takes to be successful and then go to work putting what you learn into action; you can completely revolutionize your life within 12 – 48 months.
Network Marketing is not on trial. It has already been proven many times over to be an extremely profitable business model that has allowed more every day people to become millionaires than any other business model on the planet.
It flat out works, if you work it.
And this is where the problem for most people lies. They come into the business with false expectations. They believe they can talk to a few people and within no time be making $15,000 a month.
That is not how it works…
Just like absolutely anything else worthwhile in life success requires commitment and dedication. A person would not spend big bucks and start a business from scratch or buy a franchise and then give up after a month because they had not become profitable.
Every business takes time. MLM is no different.
Although it can take a lot less time then most business models and the big difference is once you put the time in the income potential and time freedom that this industry can provide you with is mind boggling, it truly has no equal.
So let’s jump into these 9 tips and show you how to be successful in this great industry…
Tip #1 – Make the Decision
When it comes down to it this is by far the most important part of the success equation. Network Marketers who make it to the top do so because they made the rock solid decision to do so.
They realized what a powerful business model it was, they realized it would take time, work and effort; they made the decision to go for it and to do what it takes to become successful and as a result they did!
They were not just going to try it and see how it went. No they made a rock solid decision they were going to do it.
They drew the line in the sand. They made the commitment to themselves and they went to work making it happen.
So that is precisely what you also need to do. Really see the potential this industry provides you. Take a look at all of the millionaires it created from all walks of life. Realize if they can do it, there is no reason why you can not also.
The choice really is yours and it starts with a decision!
Tip #2 – Be Coachable
Once you have made the decision to be successful the next step is to understand that you need to learn what it takes.
MLM is completely different from any other business model on the planet. Trust me you do not know how to become successful at it YET.
It requires learning skills that are unique to it. You do not come into this business knowing these skills. You must learn them.
The great news is that success leaves clues. Countless people have become extremely successful doing network marketing, if you want to become one of them you just have to do what they did.
The even better news is that the successful people in your company want you to do extremely well, because the better you do the better they do. So they willingly share their knowledge with you.
Your upline is going to show you what you need to do, so be coachable. Be willing to learn. Do not think you know it all, trust me you really do not. Learn and apply what they are showing you.
A big ego in this industry typically results in a small bank account.
One of the reasons I created the success in this industry that I did was because I had a great upline who knew how to build a profitable business and I listened to everything they shared with us.

I then went to work making it happen, which leads right into tip #3…
Tip #3 – Do the Work
You absolutely must put in the work if you want to see the results. Just like going to the gym, if you don’t do the work you are not going to get in shape.
As the great Jim Rohn once said; “You can’t hire someone else to do your push-ups for you”.
You can not hire someone else to build your network marketing business. The cavalry is not coming to save you. If it is to be it is up to YOU!
You have to put in the work, there is no way around it.
Now the great news is that the work is not hard work. In fact what we do to build this business is very simple. Not only is it simple but it will take you no more than 2 hours a day of work.
Even when you are making full time income you will still only be working part-time hours.
2 hours a day (3 tops), 4 -5 days a week of doing the right activities will create you a 6 figure income within 12 – 48 months. Some people go faster than others and that is OK. Even if it takes you 48 months to become successful it will be more than worth it.
Most businesses take 5 years to ever see a profit if they ever do. With your MLM business you will not only be profitable but can also be living a very lavish lifestyle within 4 years if you do the work!
Tip #4 – Become a Professional Friend Maker
I am going to give you an overview of the actual recruiting process in the next tip, however the nuts and bolts of how you build this business comes down to you simply going out and making friends.
You have been making friends and getting to know people your whole life, it is a simple thing to do, especially on social media.
As a result it is a simple business to build. In fact it has to be simple in order for it to work.
Success in your business is found by getting a large group of people (your team or downline) engaging in a few simple activities over an extended period of time.
When your team members grow their business and become successful your business in turn grows.
People love to over complicate Multi-Level Marketing, don’t allow yourself to do that, keep it simple and just go out and make friends.
Tip #5 – Learn How to Recruit
Recruiting is a learned skill set. Nobody comes into network marketing already knowing how to do it. It is part of the process of being coachable and learning how to do this very highly paid skill correctly.
As I explained in tip #4, becoming successful in MLM is becoming a professional friend maker, doing so is actually the 1st step in the recruiting process.
Here is how the full recruiting process works:
Step 1 meeting people. You start with the friends you already have. When you have shared your opportunity with all of them it is time to go out and meet new people and make new friends.

Step 2 make friends. It is now time to turn the people you met into friends. This is called building rapport. We are not in the sales business. We are not high pressure sales people and we most certainly are not spammers.
You do not want to run around harassing people you just met with your business opportunity, and you don’t want to be spamming complete strangers.
As you are meeting people you want to develop a relationship with them, a friendship of some sort before you approach them regarding your opportunity.
You want them to somewhat know, like and trust you. You don’t have to become best friends by any means, but you want them to know you to an extent.
Your goal is to not be perceived as a stranger asking them to look at an opportunity.
Social media is my favorite place to meet people and develop enough rapport with them to be able to approach them about your business.

Step 3 share your business.
This is where you actually approach your new friends about your MLM business.
Once you have some rapport built this is a simple process.
Just send them a message and say something like:
“Hey Rachel, it’s been very cool getting to know you. I noticed you live in Seattle, I actually own an internet business and would love to expand it into Seattle. I was curious if you would open to taking a look at it, if not no biggy I just thought I would ask”?
Simple as that my friend. Rinse and repeat
- Make friends
- Develop rapport or a relationship (become friends)
- Ask if they are open to taking a look
See why I say it is such a simple business?
That is all we do, over and over again. Some people will join, some will not. That is not your concern, your only concern is doing the daily activities.
Which takes us to the next tip…
Tip #6 – Set Daily Activity Goals
This is a big one my friend. Too many people get hung up on their results. In fact they make the terrible mistake of making result oriented goals.
They set goals such as:
- I am going to sponsor 1 new person a day
- I am going to make $5000 a month within 3 months.
- I am going to create a 6 figure income my first year in network marketing.
Now don’t get me wrong, It is great to know where you want to go.
However I believe setting these sorts of goals is a bad decision as it leads to disappointment and frustration when you do not achieve them. Because the fact is you really do not have control over these sorts of goals.
Instead, you want to set Activity goals. You have 100% control over your activities.
You can set a goal that you are going to meet 5 new people on Facebook every day. It is 100% in your power to reach that goal.
You can set a goal that you are going to communicate with 5 of your new Facebook friends every day. You can start 5 conversations. You can comment on 5 of your friends’ posts. It is 100% in your power to make that happen.
You can set a goal that on a daily basis you are going to ask 3 of your new friends if they are open to taking a look at your opportunity. Again you have complete control over accomplishing that goal.
And guess what happens if you set and achieve those sorts of activity goals? The results will happen. They always do!
If you do what we call the “Rain Making Activities” daily people are going to join your business and you are going to start to build a successful organization.
This is a powerful concept my friend. I highly recommend you set yourself up for success versus failure by doing this.

Tip #7 – Put Marketing Back into MLM
You will notice that Multi Level Marketing or Network Marketing both have the word Marketing in their name. This is not a coincidence by the way.
It is right there in front of us, but the majority of MLMers take no notice of it. They give no thought to actually marketing their business. They understand they have to network, but not market.
Every business has to engage in marketing activities.
I highly recommend that on top of doing the daily recruiting activities you learned in this post as well as the posts I provided you links to, that you also spend 20-30% of your business building time learning marketing techniques.
I would recommend that you focus your time on internet marketing, it’s clearly the wave of the future and here to stay, plus it is the most cost effective and arguably the most powerful marketing method available to you.
