When I first got involved in network marketing in a serious capacity back in 2005 I was (and still am) a big fan of warm market techniques. I was such a big fan because they work and I was able to create a 6 figure income using them. However, it was not long before I was researching “how to grow your network marketing business online” for the very simple reason that I had ran out of people I knew to talk to.
And when you run out of people to talk to in this business you are in trouble, because success is plain and simply a numbers game. The more people you share your business opportunity with the more people will come out the other side and join your team or buy your product.
It is as simple as that.
If you want to create a huge residual income check you must get good at recruiting. It is what we do here. We are professional recruiters.
It does not matter if you are making 50k per month or $500, if you are not sponsoring new distributors into your downline on a monthly basis your business is going backwards.
Recruiting is Actually Simple (Especially Online)
Here is the really great part of all of this…
Recruiting if done correctly is not a hard activity, the activity in and of itself is simple.
Anyone who truly has the desire and ambition to learn the skills required can become good enough at it to create a very successful organization within their network marketing company.
All that is involved in the process is:
- Meet new people
- Develop a relationship (rapport) with them
- Ask them if they are open to looking at your opportunity
- If so point them to sales material about your company or product (website, webinar, etc)
- Follow up and collect their decision
That is it!
Where People Get Stuck
Where people seem to stuck in this process is literally on the first step of the process, the “meeting new people” step.
We all start out with our warm market, i.e. the people we already know. But what happens when you run out of them? What happens when you have spoken to all of them?
You must find a way to meet new people on a daily basis.
And this is where learning how to grow your network marketing business online comes into play.
The Internet Was a Game Changer
Back in the old days before the online world became such an integral part of our lives like it is today, your only real option was to literally put your boots on and head out in your community and find ways of meeting people.
Which was not an easy process to say the least. It was doable but it was not easy.
However, thanks to the internet and in practically social media everything has changed.
If you had of told me back in 2005 that there would come a day in the not too distant future that I would be able to sit down at my computer and have the ability to meet 10 – 20 new people daily I would have become very very excited.
And that is now what every network marketer now has available to them.
There no longer is any excuse for people not becoming a success in this industry. Anyone who has the desire and learns the right skills can go on to create a very successful business online if they put the work into it.
Your Online Game Plan
All right enough about how great the internet is, let’s get into the nitty gritty and give you some strategies you can start implementing today.
When it comes to building your business online there are really 2 ways to do it.
You can either actively get on social media sites like Facebook and LinkedIn (at the time this blog post was written these are the best 2 options), and actively get out there and meet new people, develop relationships with them and ask them if they are open to looking at your opportunity.
You can engage in what is referred to as Attraction Marketing. Which is basically just a fancy term we networkers use to call Internet Marketing. Although we do add a little spin to it as compared to say affiliate marketing.
With attraction marketing, you use strategies such as blogging, videos, emails, and paid advertising to attract your prospect to you.
Which basically means you generate highly targeted leads for your business who already look up to you, respect you and are very interested in speaking with you about your business opportunity.
Which Strategy Should You Use?
Personally, I recommend that everyone in the industry after having shared their opportunity with everyone they know should immediately start prospecting on social media.
I say this because it is not only a very powerful method of prospecting that works very well (if done right); but it is also a simple strategy that everyone on your team can perform successfully.
Which is a crucial component to being able to build a successful network marketing business.
Everyone on your team must be able to perform the core activities or you are not going to experience any growth. You cannot make it to the top in this industry by yourself; you need a team that grows without you.
As for attraction marketing, I do not recommend it for everyone.
The reason is it’s not simple and it is not duplicable, meaning most people on your team will not be able to do it successfully.
This is because it takes a long time before you see any results, there is a steep learning curve to it and it costs money in most cases.
All of which means that most people on your team simply will not do it and if they do try the majority of them will quit well before they see success.
But It Might Be For You!
Now having said all of that. If you are a go-getter. A super achiever. Someone who will do what it takes no matter what.
If you have the patience to put in 12 – 18 months without seeing any results and don’t mind investing in yourself and your business then I highly recommend you look at this strategy further.
Because once you get rolling with it, gain some traction and momentum it will become a big time game changer for you.
You will literally have highly targeted prospects contacting you wanting to learn about your business. In many cases you will not be able to keep up with all of the leads you generate.
Many top leaders in this industry have used this method to get to where they are. Pretty much every one of the top leaders that you see promoting themselves, their books or courses online used it to get where they are.
But again it is not for everyone. And you most definitely do not have to use it to be successful. Most top earners in the industry do not use it, lots do, but most don’t, so you definitely don’t have to either.
My 30 – 70 Rule
If you do decide to do attraction marketing then you need to head my warning and make sure that you are also using the social media strategy I discussed.
Not only use the social media strategy but also make it the cornerstone of your business.
Spend at least 70% of your time doing it and warm market methods. Then with the remaining 30% of your time start learning and building through attraction marketing.
The main reason for this is that what you do in this business duplicates. This means that what you do your team will think they need to do.
So if you are only doing attraction marketing your team is going to think that is what they need to do and I already shared with you that most people will not be able to and as a result your business will fail.
So it is imperative that you get good at recruiting on social media and your warm market.
It is crucial that you teach your team those methods.
And it is essential that they see you doing them also and see you having success with them.
Alright teaching you exactly how to do each of these online strategies is not something I can show you in this blog post as it is already getting way too long.
