I find the question of “does network marketing work” to be a fascinating question. The reason for my fascination is that clearly network marketing works, it has been proven that it has worked countless times for decades.
A simple google search will reveal to you thousands of people who have created very successful businesses, incomes and lifestyles.
The real question someone is asking when they ask this question is whether or not it will work for them.
They are asking if they invest the money in joining a business opportunity will they be successful.
Now that is a good question…
And the answer to that very much depends on the person themselves and how dedicated they are to being successful.
The Problem with Network Marketing
There is no question that there is a problem with this industry. But it is not that it does not work, it certainly does.
The problem is that the majority of people join with false expectations. And in most cases this is through no fault of their own but rather the fault of the person who sponsors them.
They join thinking that this is get-rich-quick or that they can do a little work and see a large return. Because that is what they were told by the person who sponsored them.
Unfortunately like everything else in life that is not how it works.
There is no such thing as something for nothing. There is no method out there besides perhaps the lottery for a person to do little to no work and reap a huge financial windfall.
Success in network marketing takes time, dedication, commitment and work.
Yes it can be done part-time, but part-time means 10 – 15 hours a week of focused activity.
The Good News
Now if you are a go getter and are committed to becoming a success and creating a tremendous lifestyle, then what I just said should be exciting to you.
Because in reality there is no other business opportunity on the planet that allows the average person to be able to invest so little in the way of time & money and be able to reap the tremendous financial rewards that this business can provide you with if you work hard and are committed.
Traditional bricks and mortar businesses cost thousands and thousands of dollars to get started and to operate and you must put in hours upon hours or work weekly. Same goes for franchises.
With network marketing you can invest as little as $100 in some cases and working no more than 15 hours a week you can create a 6 & 7 figure income within a few short years if you stay focused on doing so.
What Happens to Most People
But what happens to most people who join an opportunity is they once again come in with false expectations. They believe it will be easy, take little to no work and that the money will come to them quickly.
They sign up and then go and tell 3 – 4 of their closest friends and family members about the opportunity and when those people don’t join they get frustrated, disappointed and quit.
Other people may play around with it for a longer period of time. They may attend weekly events, get on some team training calls and prospect 1 – 2 people a week for a period of time.
But that is nowhere near what is required to be successful and as a result those people also quit.
So What is Required to be Successful?
What I am going to say next always ruffles some feathers. People who have “tried” network marketing and quit hate to hear this.
Success in your business is SIMPLE!
Now I did not say it was easy, I said it was simple.
What we do daily to achieve success truly is simple. The hard part is making yourself do it day in and day out for 2 – 4 years until you are successful.
It is like going to the gym. What it takes to get in shape is “simple”.
Making yourself do what it takes daily for months on end is the hard part.
People quit going to the gym because they do not see immediate results.
They had false expectations about what it takes to get into shape. They wanted quick gains. They wanted to get skinny overnight.
It’s a wild thing when you think about it….
It took people years of over-eating to put on the weight and become unhealthy but they expect to lose all the fat and become in great shape in a couple of weeks.
Not how it works…
If you work out 3 – 5 times a week for 12 – 18 months then yes you will get into decent shape. Do it for another 12 months and you will be in very good shape.
Same Thing Applies in this Business
If you work 12 – 15 hours on your business every week.
If you learn the skills required and put them into practice.
If you make the commitment to stick to building your business for the next 24 – 48 months you are going to create success.
Can you imagine spending $100k on a franchise and then quitting a couple of weeks later because it was too hard? No way, that would not happen. You would stick it out because you invested the $100k.
But that is exactly what people do in network marketing. They join and quit because it was harder than they thought.
And it is very sad to me because if they truly realized the kind of lifestyle they could create if they simply committed 2 – 4 years of their life to learning the skills required to build this business and went to work doing so; there is no way they would quit.
Because there is no lifestyle like that of a network marketer. The time and financial freedom you can create is second to none. No franchise can give you this lifestyle and not many traditional bricks and mortar businesses can either.
It is so worth putting in the time and effort to learn and build this business.
And anyone with determination and commitment can learn and become good at what is required to be successful…
So What is Required?
All we do in this business is simply meet people and ask them if they are open to looking at an opportunity.
That is truly all there is to it…
You do not have to get good at sales. In fact, you do not sell at all. You let the business building tools do all of the selling and telling to your prospect for you.
All you need to do is get good at meeting new people, developing a little rapport (relationship/friendship) with them and again simply ask if they are open to looking at an opportunity.
If they say no who cares, good, great, wonderful. Your job is to simply see if they are open to looking. And keep doing so over and over again with new people.
And guess what… 9 times out of 10 the person will at least be open to taking a look. Hardly anyone says no I am not interested in taking a look.
Then once the person says they are open to taking a look you provide them with a business building tool such as a website that explains the opportunity to them so you don’t have to.
And then all you do is follow up with them to see if they want to get started.
Rinse and repeat!
Simply get good at meeting people and all of your dreams can come true. Pretty cool right?
A Right Way & A Wrong Way
Yes of course there is a right way to go about this.
There are easy ways to meet new people and there are hard ways.
There is a proper way to ask someone if they are open to looking at your opportunity and there is a wrong way.
And this is all part of learning the skills to become successful.
