Leads are the cornerstone of your success in network marketing. If you always have leads to share your opportunity with you than you will eventually have success, it is just matter of time. But what are the best network Marketing leads to focus your time on and where do you find them?
It’s a good question…
You see there is no doubt about it that some leads are simply better than others; and in some cases they are a whole host better.
For example you could pick up the phone book and start cold calling people. They are definitely leads but their quality is horrendous and without a doubt the worst type of prospect.
Where as someone who already knows, likes and trust you is a good lead.
But even then someone who knows, like’s, and trust you but has no interest in a home based business is not as good as one who is entrepreneurial.
And even better than being entrepreneurial is a lead who likes network marketing already.
OK… so when it comes to finding people to share your business with I recommend you focus on the following 3 things:
Step #1 – Focus on the People Who Know, Like & Trust You First
Yes I am referring to your warm market.
If you have followed any of my trainings you know I am a huge advocate of the warm market. In fact I would go so far as to say that if you neglect this target market you are going to fail.
Why do I say that?
Simply because it is the easiest way to build a business. It is the path of least resistance.
You see in order to build a large down line you need to have your team members sponsoring people. And the warm market is the easiest way for most of your team to sign people into their business.
The other methods I teach take effort, time and have a learning curve and sometimes a cost associated with them. The majority of your team will not want to do the other methods.
Most people want to just plod away at building their business. Sharing it with a few friends and family and people they meet along the way.
And that is A-OK… you need to embrace your team members where they are at. Let the 20% be the 20% and the 80% be the 80%.
Some on your team will want to do advanced lead generation and that is awesome, teach them what you know. But make the warm market the cornerstone of how your team builds the business.
It is a crucial concept and one that too many networkers miss.
Step #2 – Learn to Develop Influence
If there is a secret in this industry it is that people with influence do very well in this business.
People who have created influence over others in their life prior to joining network marketing are able to crush it in this business.
The reason for this is because of this influence they have over others. Which basically means the people they know and who know them highly respect them and value their opinion.
So when they ask them to look at an opportunity they not only look at it, but they take it very seriously.
People with this type of influence are typically:
- Business Owners,
- Community Leaders,
- Professional Athletes,
And you have actually seen the result of having this kind of influence in action before…
The person who joins your company and shoots right to the top. Sponsors tons of new distributors seemingly overnight and earns the big pay checks very quickly.
They are able to do this because of the influence they created previously in their lives.
The bad news is that creating this type of influence offline takes years to accomplish; and is not a smart way to try and go build a business if you don’t already possess it.
Here is The Great News
Now the really great news is that thanks to social media anyone with determination can create this type of influence in a relatively short period of time; 2 – 3 months in fact.
And in my opinion the type of influence you build on social media is even better than the type you build offline. The reason for that is the offline version is finite. Meaning you eventually prospect everyone you know and you run out of prospects.
Whereas online the influence you create in infinite. It keeps on growing as there is an endless amount of prospects online just waiting for you to use this strategy with.
There is no question in my opinion that everyone in the industry should immediately start using this strategy as soon as they have shared their business opportunity with their warm market.
The leads you get generate here are some of the best possible.

Step #3 – Attract Prospects to You
Ok there is no question that these are the best network marketing leads you could ever come across. These are leads that actually come to you wanting to know how to work with you in your business.
Talk about a game changer huh?
No more chasing prospects. No more asking people if they are open to looking at your business. No more soliciting strangers.
Your prospects come to you, wanting to know what you are doing and how they can work with you.
This is called Attraction Marketing.
In reality it is internet marketing for network marketers.
The basic concept is you use internet marketing techniques such as blogging, YouTube marketing, Facebook business pages and ads to attract your prospects to you.
You create content that creates a Brand based around yourself. Instead of building your company you are building YOU Inc.
You do this by creating content that answers your prospects questions, needs and wants. You help them solve their problems.
By doing so you become seen as an expert. As someone who can help them solve their problems.
- Your prospects start to follow you.
- They subscribe to your YouTube channel.
- They follow your Facebook page.
- They subscribe to your newsletter on your blog.
And over time as they continue to see the content you are putting out daily your influence grows over them. They come to know like and trust you.
And eventually they come to the realization that working with you is their best chance of becoming a success and they become a lead.
A very warm lead and one that reaches out to you wanting more information.
Sound good? It is but I do have to provide you with a warning…
Warning Warning Warning
As great as the strategy is there is a problem with it and that is it has a learning curve. It can take time to get traction with and you do have to invest some money into it.
Typically it can take anywhere from 6 – 18 months to start generating leads. So there is a problem with this.
If your goal is to build a network marketing downline you need to stay in active prospecting mode. That means you need to use the first two methods I explained in this post.
You should focus at least 70% of your time actively prospecting. Going out and asking people if they are open to looking at your opportunity. Again starting with your warm market and then moving to the Facebook strategy I discussed.
Then if you find the concept of Attraction Marketing appealing focus no more than 30% of your time learning and implementing it starting out.
This is crucial or your business will stall and start failing.
Over time as you start to generate leads with attraction marketing you can adjust these percentages accordingly.
However never give up 100% on active prospecting because your team needs to see you engaged in it if you wish to have duplication and team growth happen.
